I don’t keep up with what Disney is doing. What they did to the Star Wars franchise is unforgivable. Yet, the new Snow White movie starring Rachel Zegler, a pro-Hamas clown, is getting bombed harder than Gaza right now, as critics and theater-goers are decidedly not watching this movie:

"The Lady and the Tramp" with Lady as a trans-female ("assigned" male at birth)?
In the original all the dwarves had a beard and none was a Dopey
Not true, many of them made over 1 billion dollars...
This one is going to cost Disney over $200 million in losses...
Snow Woke and the 7 gifs.
The fine art of selecting a fact, and ignoring context is a staple of propaganda.
SeeBS and their ilk have had a lot of practice at being masters of the craft.
4 of them have made over a billion. Jungle Book came close, so lets call it 5. Out of 23. Most of them do OK, some tank. But they keep the merch alive.
Both iterations are attractive to my eyes.
That’s life. I mean it did do 10 times better than #2. And more than the rest of the top 10 combined. It is the March dump zone after all, nobody puts something out now expecting it to make money.
Agreed.
Not even close.
It is all about her being a leader she was meant to be. The same storyline could be applied to Hitler.
LOL! Annnnnd, it's a suicide bombing!
“who missed out on a nice paycheck”
It looked to me like those dudes got Kamala Harris ad gigs. “I eat Carburetors for Breakfast.”
The new ones with DEI casting are hurting merch sales also. How do you portray them in the merc? The “new” black Little Mermaid” or the original white redhead that sold billions.
Drop the new girl and get attacked as racists or keep the Redhead and make money.
Plus it has pissed out people so much they just ain’t buying it at all. I said all along, they did not think it though on their race to race swap the characters how it would affect merc sales. And here we are...
BIGLY!
The important part isn’t the new merch. I mean sure they want that to sell. But there’s a reason why live Snow White wears the same blue and yellow dress as animated Snow White. It’s a sneaky way of renewing the copyright on that look. So now that look goes from hitting the public domain in 5 years (meaning anybody could make and sell Snow White merch) to some time next century. 6 months from now nobody will care about or remember this remake, but 6 years from now when Lego wants to make a new set of Snow White stuff this remake will matter a lot.
I've been following this for several years now, sort of like picking a scab, but this part surprised me when it turned up in reviews. But here it is: the writers (if you can call them that) decided that the kingdom needed to be portrayed as a happy, dancing place "where everybody shared". A socialist paradise, taken over by a cruel authoritarian, whose people will rise up and throw off their chains if they find a Leader: Snow White, naturally, "the leader she was meant to be" according to their rather inane slogan.
Yes, they turned it into a fairy tale about The Revolution. Snow White here is just as authoritarian as the Queen, and The People have exchanged one brutal dictator for another. Orwell did this theme better in Animal Farm, but the upshot is meet the new boss, same as the old boss. If the Queen is Lenin, Snow White is Stalin. Oh, and there will be no romance. The Party doesn't approve of romance.
No, it doesn’t work that way exactly. The animated version will lose copyright status and anything with that exact look will be fair game. The new version with the less liked person will be in copyright but no one cares for that.
Disney can still sell old merc after the copyright ends but so can anybody else.
Mickey Mouse is in the public domain now, but only the old original version. In a few years, other versions will join him. Disny has run out of ways to extend public domain and no one will help them this time.
Those Grimm brothers are truly grim. In the original Cinderella, the step sisters have their eyes plucked out, and are thrown in the dungeon, blind with the step mother. Revenge is harsh for Grimm villians
