WASHINGTON, D.C. — Former President Trump made a surprise appearance at the Libertarian Party Convention yesterday, but was met with a chorus of boos after the dozens of libertarians present realized Trump was wearing deodorant.
"Boo! He smells good! Boo!" screamed Libertarian Party member Johnna Lundqvist. "It's very pleasant smelling, and I don't like it! Boooo!"
According to sources, Trump's speech got off to a rocky start when he mentioned the revolutionary concept of winning elections. "Winning elections? Boo!!" yelled libertarian Donald McAdoo along with tens of others. "Look, look, he's wearing a suit! His hair looks well-kept! Boooo!!!"
As Trump continued his speech undaunted, somewhere over the mixture of marijuana and body odor, the libertarians began to catch a new smell in their nostrils. "Hey, that doesn't smell like weed," said McAdoo. "That smells almost... refreshing, like cleanliness and lavender. Wait, is Trump wearing deodorant??? Boo!!!"
At publishing time, the libertarians had again booed Trump after discovering that he was wearing closed-toe shoes.
I like the definition of libertarians that I saw once on FR:
hippies with guns
Well stated. Calling myself a “Constitutionalist” is closer to the mark. But out loud all it usually just gets is vacant stares.
What does a true "constitutionalist" espouse? That the accurate use of the Constitution is applying the Constitution as written and originally understood and intended.
ROFL!!!
I joined the LP for small government and the constitution. I left because of abortion and open borders.
“hippies with guns”
I like it, too!
For libertarianism to work, everyone one would have to be a responsible, respectful mature adult.
Sadly that’s not a universal quality of humans.
Democrat = Communist
Republican = Conservative
Independent = Repub who swore he would never vote Repub
Libertarian = Independent who smokes weed
Take it from a formerly registered Libertarian: All they have is an ideology that doesn’t include a substantial plan to increase their numbers or political influence. Sort of a circle-jerk political party enamored only by themselves.
The libertarian party didn’t used to be this insane. It’s a caricature of itself now.
Sometimes the Bee appears to have a crystal ball about such things.
Is the Mises Caucus still alive?
Vote 3rd party because bug > windshield.
"Not universal"? LOL Not even "common". More the exception than the rule.
John Adams had it right:
Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.
