A failure to resolve twin strikes of the writers’ and screen actors’ guilds could lead to “devastating effects” if no deal is reached soon, according to billionaire media mogul Barry Diller.

Mr. Diller, a former Paramount Pictures CEO, said on July 16 that the situation could compound if not resolved quickly.
“These conditions will potentially produce an absolute collapse of an entire industry,” he told CBS News.
“I would call for a September 1 deadline. There’s a strike deadline. I think there should be a settlement deadline, because unless it happens by September 1 … The truth is, this is a huge business both domestically and for world export.

Yeah, I don’t see a problem here.
FANTASTIC!!!
All the great movies have already been made...years ago when America was still America. Nothing but dreck ever since.
Lol. I watch a lot of Brit shows and I can say in comparison US shows don’t employ writers at all. They use AI to recycle old scripts and change a few words and insert gay characters for no plot associated reason.
If you define AI as Actual Ignorance, then I agree with what you say!
, I’m glad
Awesome!
Like it or not, the internet dominates our information flows, while movies and tv shows are hugely influential in molding culture. It's a mistake for conservatives to walk away from the key battlegrounds. We're in a culture war. The left holds the commanding heights. We are a guerrilla underground. We need to light some candles, speak truth, subvert expectations, learn to be subversive, and provide a viable alternative. And we can't beat something with nothing. We need content producers who are still in the war, and we need production and distribution platforms that give them a chance.
Now: I am perfectly willing to walk away from legacy institutions that have gone over to the dark side. But the task is then to build our own institutional counterculture: schools, churches, publishing houses, magazines, broadcast radio outlets, and now movies and tv shows not controlled by the left.
How to do it? I don't know. It's a big, complicated question. But we can begin by supporting conservatives, even the ones in badly compromised sectors, who have planted their flag and are fighting the good fight. The handful of conservatives in the film industry need all the support they can get. In addition, honest liberals can and sometimes do make thematically conservative movies (they won't label them as such, but that's what they are) if they are honest storytellers who want to tell honest stories rather than churning out endless agitprop. Reality is conservative. Honest storytellers will at least give real moral and psychological truths room to breathe. And honest storytellers might take cinematic license in the interests of sharpening a dramatic treatment, but they won't lie fundamentally about the history.
Last but not least, we need a production and distribution ecosystem that allows independent and dissident voices (including all manner of RightWorld voices) a fair chance to be heard. That's why the Borg is enemy #1.
Yeah, we're all too small to matter much. But if nothing else, make a symbolic gesture. Find an independent film that you like, go to a theater to see it, and if you like it, buy it online when it goes to streaming. Right now? Heck, that's easy. Go see Sound of Freedom, which is the biggest box office surprise of the year. It has the left wetting its diapers because child sex trafficking cuts too close to too many leftist sacred cows. Want more conservative movies made? Go see them when they come out. Sound of Freedom is in the theaters now.
Sound of Freedom was made several years ago. Disney acquired it when Disney bought 20th Century Fox. Disney shelved it; it's not a movie that the groomer network was interested in. The filmmakers bought the rights back from Disney. Last week it was #2 in the weekly box office, behind another cookie cutter Tom Cruise extravaganza and ahead of every woke movie. NOBODY saw that coming. And its success is 99 percent word of mouth recommendations.
Want to stick a thumb in the eye of The Mouse and earn your guerrilla warfare merit badge in the process? Go see Sound of Freedom.
The needle on my Giveashitometer has not moved.

Pedos and dope dealers harmed most !
I don’t and won’t miss New Hollywood. The serious decline in the viewership of The Oscars indicates I am not alone. I do miss Old Hollywood though.

I’m okay with this.

What’s their complaint, I hear that their new movie is doing fantastic, Sound of Freedom.
But I'm not rooting for conservatives to walk away. I'm rooting for Hollywood to implode and a more conservative influence filling the void. One that is wholesome & family friendly.
FReepers who would be affected negatively if these unions go out of business, please raise your hand.

“Billionaire Warns Hollywood Faces ‘Absolute Collapse’ If Strike Isn’t Resolved”
Best news I’ve read all day.
Hollywoke collapsing is a good thing.
Even if it is people, not computers, doing the “writing” it’s still artificial intelligence.
