I love the 4th of July. Ever since I was a kid. My sister’s inlaws (former, ex, dead and buried) use to live in Washington DC on some lake?? They went one year and the fireworks were spectacular she said.
My dh lived on a lake in Michigan and one year the fireworks exploded early off a dock, well it was a “mostly, peaceful” fireworks show. Kidding, it was a disaster.

I think before mass institutionalized thinking (or, Mass Psychosis) became all the rage around the tables of thought, that other eras afforded much more self-reliance and due to circumstances of vast spaces between neighbor and populations made it impossible to wait on organized-others to come save you and yours, and property too, from peril.
Times of shrinking space and rural living is greatly shadowed now, by skyscrapers and landscaping, with villages now the suberbs to the metropolis.
The dilemma today might be of one-size-fits-all, when it’s due to tight spaces, crowded cities and byways, then the people scream for top-down, organized living and civil law.
Law tends to enlarge itself into ideology issued by tyrants, or the people’s judges. It becomes confusing when the station of the three are all found at the same table, assimilating. Sometimes assimilating in the wrong places. The tyrant, the people, the judges, all seated at the table of large populations, over law, cash and pork, or cake.
(Nothing is new under the sun.)
This seems why patriots like Trump always rise by leaving the table”, like when the house is on fire. There is much to be said for the French and their militia.

My favourite fireworks memory was of the Statue of Liberty restoration one. Fantastic!
