Those drivers sound like the Lowest of the Lowes.
I think we’ve gotten the ‘delivery attempted, but’ message a few times, but usually deliveries are very good. We got used to using delivery during Covid, and found out that it’s very useful.
We have deliveries for groceries, Amazon, Home Depot, and all sorts of stuff (including fast food delivery.)
They’ve really gotten much better with time. We often have issues with FedEx (UPS is much better) but fortunately not much comes FedEx.
We bought a dishwasher from a competitor.
Delivery was right on time, then the installation took well over a week.
Fortunately, we had contacted the headquarters of the selling company and lodged a complaint.
Then, the installation finally got into gear and the DWer was installed but not properly. Our instructions were basically worthless.
Via more communication, a different installing crew and the replacement of the overflow hose and a few other items and a slow walk through to teach us how load and run the DWer properly worked.
It has worked very well since those snafus!
I don’t even have the time to describe the cluster @##&* I experienced when buying a bathroom vanity from Lowes and them using a third party shipping company.
Once it was in the system with the wrong address (which I absolutely deleted from my Lowes account before placing the order) there was no stopping or re-routing it.
It’s not just Lowes. Had a similar issue with a competitor with a fridge where they claimed they could not get it into the house. Left it on its back in the front yard with the doors off in the rain. Had to wrangle it in myself with my 10 year old son.
I think the problems are Geographic. Meaning, your service is as good as the workforce in the community you live in.
Our Lowe’s is great (small Texas town). Chicago, Los Angeles??? Probably not so good.
A couple years ago I bought a fridge. I owned an older home with narrow exterior doors. Before I bought the fridge I carefully measured everything and figured out I would have to remove the door and storm door, as well as the doors of the fridge, then reassemble it once inside. Delivery guys showed up, looked at the door (no measurements) said the fridge wouldn’t fit and left. I immediately went to lowes to the appliance department and demanded my money back. Eventually the manager got involved and offered rebates and so on. I didn’t relent and got my money back. Drove to home Depot and bought the same fridge had it loaded into my truck, took it home and wrangled it into the house myself. I have not purchased anything requiring delivery from Lowes since.
This is the same for all delivery chains their subcontracted delivery companies are all horrible
Those guys should be immediately terminated and the delivery company put on probation.
I ordered a set of wrenches and they were sent Priority Mail
I was reading on my couch waiting for them since they were snapon and almost $500
I looked at my phone and it said delivered 5 minutes ago, but they were not.
I got in my car and started driving around looking for my post man. (he is a great guy btw).
Found some post woman who said she didn’t handle my block but would call supervisor.
Drove more found another post man he said not me, I dont handle your block but took my phone number.
About an hour later some post office kid shows up and says my normal guy was sick and he was substitute and that he was sorry and dyslexic, but he would try to find my package
He eventually did later that day
Lowe’s third party delivery is an absolute unmitigated charlie foxtrot. I had them “attempt” to deliver FIVE times on a new washing machine. TWICE I caught them driving up along the street, turning around and driving off without even coming up to the house. Keep in mind I took off work for these deliveries! I complained to Lowe’s as far up in management as I could and they all said the same thing— we know, we get hundreds of complaints and we are pushing for change but the decision is out of our hands.
I live in the boonies. If they are going to drive all the way out here you can bet they don’t want to bring the product back.
If I don’t answer the door they just dump it under the porch cover. Even if its a signature required for like wine, they just leave it.
I’m good with it. Porch thieves could not find my neighborhood with a GPS.
DEI.
My adult daughter bought a new washer and dryer from Home Depot. They did deliver them and put them upstairs in the closet made for the purpose. They hooked up the washer hoses backwards (hot water hose to cold and vice versa). I had to reverse the hoses when we visited which was no major problem for me but it showed a lack of concern by the delivery/set-up crew.
Nothing anywhere works anymore. That is all I can say.
I used to have this issue with the UPS delivery guy where I lived about 30 years ago, so one day when I knew a package was coming next day delivery I waited for him. He had just put an “attempted delivery” sticker on my door when I walked up and asked him where my package was. He wasn’t carrying anything: he was simply too lazy to bring the packages out of the truck.
It starts with everyone getting a trophy no matter how poorly they perform.
I had a dishwasher delivered recently with installation but they refused to install. They left the dishwasher in the box in the middle of kitchen and walked out.
Ordered a Kitchen aid dishwasher from Lowes about 2 years ago. Had to wait 6 months for delivery by a 3rd party installer. First one they delivered the top was crushed like someone dropped an I-beam on it. The box showed no sign of damage. The guy took it back to Lowes to get another one. I told him to open in the store before bringing it. Got a call from him at the store telling me it was more damaged than the first. Waited another 2 months to get a another one delivered and installed. First time we used it found it was not installed correctly. Ended up doing the install myself.
Fed Ex and UPS are not any better. “Customer Service & Respect” is a lost and ancient concept.
Lowes isn’t the only one with problems. Had a Home Depot delivery (third party) deliver a refrigerator and afterwards found my wallet missing. I foolishly left it sitting out on a table in my kitchen, but I was present the whole time.
