Conservative political pundit Candace Owens said she won't be celebrating the new federal holiday of Juneteenth, suggesting that the move to commemorate the end of slavery in the U.S. is just the Democrats trying to "repackage segregation."
In a series of tweets posted after President Joe Biden signed the bill officially making June 19 a national holiday, Owens said she will only be celebrating Independence Day on July 4 instead of the date on which the last slaves were told they were free in 1865.
Owens also suggested the holiday will train Black people to see themselves as "being separate from America" and that the move to recognize the June 19 holiday only came about because the Left started "making up random celebrations" after Donald Trump got permanently banned from Twitter.
"Juneteenth is soooo lame. Democrats really need to stop trying to repackage segregation. I'll be celebrating July 4th and July 4th only. I'm American," Owens tweeted.
"It took all of 2 years for Democrats to train black Americans to worship criminals like George Floyd, beg for violence on the streets via 'defund the police' and to celebrate segregation in the form of 'black Independence Day'. I just cannot comprehend the rampant stupidity," Owens added.

Personally I think the holiday has potential. If it’s de-wokified and the entire scope of the abolition movement was truly celebrated and understood. Especially from a Christian and patriotic standpoint.

So, I love Juneteenth. And I live in Texas, where it all began. I agree...the holiday has POTENTIAL and it should become something we can ALL celebrate, which is a milestone in the story of human freedom and liberty. What is there not to like here? It should be a celebration of freedom and liberty, in the same moral universe as July 4, and for Texans at least Cinco de Mayo (Mexico freedom from Spain...), and Texas independence.
However...since we have no social discourse today, we have no common values that can be appealed to universally, we don’t sing the National Anthem as if it belongs t ALL of us, sadly, but practically, I think Candace is right.
It becomes another day of grievance. And that is something to avoid.
All that said....a holiday is free game once it goes into effect.
I suppose it’s up to people like us to shout the real meaning from the mountain tops. This is a day to celebrate human emancipation! And ALL freedom-loving people should share in that celebration!
The real truth is if the BLM protesters ever realized that it was Democrats who left the union and the Democrats wanted to keep slaves, and then after the Civil War ended Democrats still tried to control them thru laws and by segregating them, People of Color would never cast another vote for a Democrat again. In addition, Democrats have never apologized for how they mistreated People of Color! It is clear Democrats (Not Republicans) owe People of Color reparations! These statues of Civil War confederate soldiers, they were also erected by Democrats too! Even now we see police in cities controlled by democratic mayors being the places where more people of color die than ever on a daily basis. It astounds me as to how People of Color have been lied to by Democrats all these years even after the 60’s where we saw Martin Luther King killed in a city run by a Democratic mayor. Don't give me that line about old history because even today we see more People of Color killed in cities run by Democrats and police controlled by Democratic mayors than ever. Go ahead tell me I am wrong. Not a thing I posted is false. The evidence is overwhelming Democrats are not on the side of People of Color. These “Social Programs” designed by Democrats limit what a person can earn without losing one's benefits and are not done on proper gradual decrease or increase as needed. Once a person gets so far up the ladder in life they cut the legs off from under them and they end up right back in the hole by design in a never ending system of poverty. All designed by you guessed it, Democrats.
