My friendās husband wonāt let her visit any friends or family. He has made her stop all contact with them unless itās on the phone or computer. He reads, monitors and often deletes things on social media.
He makes her feel like sheās going crazy for thinking heās controlling, and that she is being ungrateful. (After all, heās only doing this because of how much he cares about her.)
He doesnāt want her going to the gym anymore, so she doesnāt go. He also doesnāt let her go to work anymore (he told her to only rely on him for income and that he will take care of her).
Sheās not really allowed to go out anymore, unless itās for necessities, and when she does, he makes sure to have people guilt trip her about it and shame her for it.
He wants her to have this medical procedure done and tells her that if she does it, he will allow her more freedoms.
He constantly says heās only doing all of this because he cares... he is just doing it for her own good.
Oh wait....did I say husband? I meant the government.
My bad.
You have been conditioned to be outraged if another person did this to their spouse, but be passive & compliant when it comes to our government.

It sounds to me that he has big issues. If I was her, I would either seek council for him or run like hell. He sounds like the one you read in the paper every other day. “Controlling husband kills wife and dog” .

Or leave out that he wants an open marriage with all his friends moving in and he mortgages the house to give them spending money! i.e. illegal immigrants
Weāve ebeen out and about, traveling more than ever the past year. I got sick before it all late January. Massive back aches for four days then back to work. Then all hell broke out.
Yes, while this was a very contagious biological attack by damned chicom scum sucking bastards, it was certainly abuse by leftist totalitarian government agencies.
I knew a couple like that. Took her a few years, being watched and controlled so thoroughly, but she finally got away. She completely vanished overnight, despite being broke, extremely malnourished, and (apparently) completely friendless.
And that’s what the citizen of an oppressive government ought to do before it comes to that, because it will.
(Epilogue: last I heard she’s thriving and he’s squeezing the life out of someone else.)

And then what? Keep on leaving until there is nowhere left to leave TO?
Make your stand where you are. If you get bowled over, such is life. But at least you would have FOUGHT!

Since none of us as US citizens by birth or naturalization ever swore an oath to government, he/it is an illegitimate usurper of our loyalty and devotion.
