Its time to say farewell to the red-checkered, overall-wearing Big Boy mascot. Originating in 1936, Big Boy has become a beloved American symbol, but a change is now underway, and a new symbol is upon us.
Big Boy restaurants has announced the takeover of a new mascot named Dolly. While the name Big Boy will stay, the original rosy-cheeked mascot will not.

Anyone remember an episode of “Saturday Night Live” back in the late 1970’s or early 1980’s?
Jane Curtin was reading the “news” on camera and she said “Bob Big Boy’s” is changing their name to “Bob’s Jew Boy.”
Apologies to Jewish Freepers, but that’s what she said! I don’t believe they would use that anti-Semitic slur in 2020, even on SNL.

YEARS ago.
Around here Eat n’ Park was a Big Boy franchisee for a long time. They dumped out of that around 1970. Then Elby’s Big Boy from West Virginia came in, but those went away around 15 years ago when the franchisee went bankrupt.

I remember a hamburger chain known a SANDY’S, also a Kip’s Big Boy.
They seem to be going the way of Minnie Pearl’s Fried Chicken.

The term “Boy”, is racist/demeaning to Blacks. As in C’mere BOY!
I remember they had a pretty good breakfast buffet too.
I wish they were still here, just for the Big Boy burger. It was sort of like a Big Mac, but much better.
My husband just remembered something from his childhood town in Pennsylvania.
If kids got an ‘A’ on their report card, and brought it to Big Boy, they’d get a free meal. He says that with four kids at the time, it was a nice, cheap treat for his family, every school-report cycle.

Early 60s there was a Big Boy around Mountlake Terrace are called Keboe’s Big Boy, I think it was spelled Keboe’s.
Just make Nugget the mascot and get rid of humans entirely.
And of course Sarah Connors told "Big Buns" to guard her motor scooter in "The Terminator".
