It’s time to say farewell to the red-checkered, overall-wearing Big Boy mascot. Originating in 1936, Big Boy has become a beloved American symbol, but a change is now underway, and a new symbol is upon us.
Big Boy restaurants has announced the takeover of a new mascot named Dolly. While the name Big Boy will stay, the original rosy-cheeked mascot will not.

Is this like IHOP’s hoax name change to IHOB (”b” for burgers) to promote a product? The article says the chicken sandwich is for a limited time only, and it isn’t certain whether Dolly will continue or Big Boy will return.
I think Wendy’s should get rid of the girl and have a boy instead. That makes as much sense as Big Boy with a girl.
Not that it’s any big deal either way, but it’s just the general goofiness of inclusive PC culture.

In North Dakota in the 1970’s it was McDowells Big Boy.

It could be temporary. Judging by the corporate statement, the return to the “boy” mascot is not yet determined.
I didn’t realize it either - and yes they did!
I remember a kind of hot fudge ice cream cake...but the sandwich was so big, you had no room for desert; so you went for one or the other.
