In New York, and other states that have yet to reopen, and where occupancy limits are inevitable once they do, a PPP loan can feel more like a burden than a gift. It feels really scary to take on potential debt even though its like, maybe forgivable when the timeline for reopening is so vague. And then theres no clarity about whether or not we can open in a full capacity, says Carla Perez-Gallardo, a co-owner of Lil Debs Oasis, a snug neighborhood restaurant in Hudson, New York.
Lil Debs Oasis has a legal capacity of 30 people, and the restaurants owners cant see a way to hire back their full-time staff members while serving a half-empty restaurant. The pressure is on businesses to pay their employees that theyve hired back, at a time in which they may not even be able to pay their rent, says Perez-Gallardo. It feels like an odd narrative to be moving toward at a time where it doesnt feel possible.
The path forward is extremely uncertain for restaurants, whether they apply for and are given a PPP loan or not. Resources and guidance across the country are limited, and restaurant owners are left to ask questions that no one, it seems, will answer. For us, the best-case scenario would be to have flexibility with our landlord and for our local and our federal government to provide some relief or guidance in how to move forward, says Sprouse, who applied for a loan but has yet to hear back. Right now its like theyre putting a Band-Aid over a severed leg.

Open up now, right now. Not later, not in a few days, not in a month. Now.
Restaurants operate on a tight margin in the best of times. Capacity limits will kill them.
Limiting Capacity May Be a Death Sentence for Suffering Restaurants, so Perhaps They’ll vote Democrat in November.
Fixed it.
not to many businesses and their owners can afford to shut down for 2-3 months and be expected to reopen at half the revenue afterwards.
If the federal PPP loan requires them to pay the salaries of their total former staff, then it’s a poison pill.
It would be kinder to shoot the owners.

This entire ‘virus’ was concocted by the elites/China to destroy PDJT & America with one stone.
It doesn’t matter how many millions (probably not even close to that) have gotten it or died from it. The end will justify the means.
2- Employees wash often, (gloves for kitchen staff, not the servers)
3- Let customers decide whether its "too crowded".
4- Must have lawsuit protection (screw Nancy).
They used to have smoking section in restaurants. Now they need a normal pack em in virus section for those normals that don’t give a $h!t.
Yes, but with the way the MSM has terrorized the public it almost doesnt matter. Georgia is open with very few shoppers.
Here in Texas they have allowed 50% capacity if the county has 5 or less cases. Otherwise it’s only 25% capacity.
Most of those still aren’t open because it’s not even worth it to open with just 25% capacity. Can’t even pay the light bill with that!
In places like NY these owners would have voted for these elected officials and still will in the future out of their own ignorance.
Everybody is mad at Ruths Chris and Shake Shack over accepting PPP money, but Boeings 12 billion dollar bailout quietly passed by without media comment.
This is why politicians should never be in charge of our economy in any way. They have no idea thew consequences of their actions.
Politicians have no idea what it means to own and operate a business. They think that businesses create money just by existing. They tax businesses for existing, even before they have earned a cent.
When operating at half or 1/3 capacity, the rent, insurance, hours of work and salaries remain the same. I don’t think most restaurants can make a profit operating that way.
I think many are just going to fold.
Why the hell has everyone been sucked into this “social distancing” fad? Has it ever been scientifically proven to be effective in hindering the spread of disease?

If they try to force that I don't think we'll have any restaurants anymore. But it will be way worse than that. Not just restaurants, but bars, sports venues, live entertainment or social gatherings. Hotels, airlines and travel will be wiped out completely. That's why I believe at some point soon we need to sell the fact that the shutdown was a mistake.
