In Sweden, an interesting experiment is playing out, which may soon reveal that Britain is way off when it comes to modelling the number of coronavirus patients who will end up in intensive care.
The country has bucked the near-global lockdown trend, choosing to allow schools, businesses and sports venues to remain open and relying on the good sense of its citizens to control the virus through social distancing and maintaining good hygiene
But the country has chosen this path largely because its prediction of how its health service will cope is vastly different from the trajectory that British modellers have forecast.
The vast ramping up of intensive care beds in the UK in recent weeks was driven by modelling from Imperial College, which suggested up to 30 per cent of people who are hospitalised for coronavirus will need intensive care....

That might explain their numbers. They don’t make sense. No quarantining, business as usual and yet a lower rate of death.
How can that be?
The jury will be in...probably in July or August. That’s assuming that Sweden releases accurate, truthful numbers.
Maybe they are not counting
every death as the virus
like we are here.
...but surely the hospitals would be way over capacity(?)
What is known is that more than 647,000 people per year die from heart disease in this country, according to the CDC; and more than 599,000 die from cancer.
What is also obvious is that many if not most Americans are now living in fear of the newest disease to threaten in ways they never lived in fear of those old, established diseases.

#BREAKINGPolice cars revolving light - Sweden is considering reporting France to the European Commission after 4 million face masks ordered by Mölnlycke from China were stopped in France. The Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs says that France’s action is a violation of the internal market rules.
The vulnerable would still social distance as we achieve herd immunity by opening everything up. Its just the flu, bro.
We HAVE to count every death as WuFlu so Fauxci can save face
Didn’t Bronc0 put Biden in charge of fixing Cancer?
How can it possibly still be around all these years later?
Sweden does not have a Fauci and I doubt they’d tolerate him for long.
It’s not a theory, it is the reality of dealing with an epidemic/pandemic. You have to reach herd immunity either through a vaccine or 40-70% infection rates to end it. We are going to get to herd immunity one way or the other. The longer we keep everyone under quarantine, the longer it takes to reach herd immunity and the greater the death toll may be.

Muslims wouldn’t comply with a lockdown, anyway.
These kinds of statements are ridiculous and don’t reflect the data.I’m a grandmother, but, in my state, I’m three times more likely to die from a car accident than coronavirus. I have no plans to give up cars and I’m fine with the herd immunity approach to the virus. This is called “risk assessment” and we do it everyday. If the data changes and the risk for a serious case of the virus increases, the answer is simple: I’ll simply stay home. Voila — problem solved! Until that time, I’ll take my chances. By the way, I live in Kentucky, which currently ranks 34th in number of covid cases. What does this mean based on the number of cases and deaths divided by the population of my state? I have a .015 percent of getting coronavirus and a .00045 percent chance of dying from the virus (probably lower since I don’t have any underlying health conditions). Please stop scaring people by saying we are going to kill grandma if everyone doesn’t stay home!
Does it look like the lockdown is working to flatten the curve in New York or Italy? Not to me.
This virus could be so contagious that lockdowns are worthtless. Some studies have it traveling 27 feet, lasting in the air for three hours and being spread by mere breathing.
One thing is for damn sure -- that if there is a second wave of the virus, Sweden will have far fewer instance of it.
Sweden's approach may save lives.
It could work for Sweden, given available and mandatory use of effective personal protection equipment, and/or effective treatments - neither of which the US, or many other western countries has/had.
In a world first, the Swedish government has announced that it is going to officially distinguish between deaths by and deaths with the coronavirus, which should lead to a reduction in reported deaths.
3/16, Sweden has its 3rd death.

Interpret that how you like. Sweden may be still fully tracking, or it may not be.
Interesting that Sweden has twice tho population of each of its neighboring countries which all have almost the same population. They have a lower case rate then Norway, but the highest percent of deaths. Norway and the US’ case rate at one tenth of a percent with death rate per population. Sweden has the highest mortality rate among those that have been tested and tested positive or determined to have contracted COVID-19.

How can that be
They were low early in the cycle before people had a chance to die. All of the Nordic/Germanic countries did. Unlike most diseases where 95% of the people who are going to die tend to die within the first 24-48 hours they seek medical care, this one is two weeks after they become symptomatic, and about a week after they are admitted to the hospital on average.
