Yeah, but it is the “finding out” part that makes that plan tricky, especially in places like Virginia or Texas.

Nothing there specifically on CV since the aim is to have you prepared in advance of worldwide pandemics, not after they are in full force, but there are over 200 books on traditional and alternative medicine in case you are having trouble finding medical treatment.

A good read on PRIG and PRID fuel stabilizers with an excellent comment near the end. https://rethinksurvival.com/review-of-pri-g-fuel-stabilizer-hands-down-the-best-available/

Please add me to your ping list. The only comment I have to add now is, COVID has not caused me to dip into my preps . I’m trying to think, what is the next shoe to drop?

Gasoline can deteriorate though

You are so correct. I use an Amsoil product that not only stabilizes it takes care of the water that comes from ethanol in the fuel. Works really great.

Another considerations, is a reliable vehicle without a computer chip or any type of electronic controls. I restored a 1977 Jeep CJ5 so that in the happen chance an EMP was used against the US, I would still have a vehicle that functioned. You hear of people planning on bugging out to their "secret" location with trailer in tow and truck full of firearms and provisions. Hard to do if your tow vehicle will not run.

I believe water purification is where I am lacking the most. I have filtering for about 20k gallons. I have studied a DIY filter system where charcoal and other filtration is used and then water is treated with chlorine. After so many gallons, you clean out and replace filter medium.

Like you I have a swimming pool (about 35K gallons) and two stock tanks, one about 4 acres when full and the other about 1 acre, so I have not really got too excited about the installing the Buffalo manual pump.

Yeah living in a rural setting the way we do always keeps us with extra food stores. When all my kids moved out, I converted the billiard (pool table) room into our prepping storage. Started slowly filling it up. We have 98 linear feet of shelving, 2 feet deep that reach to the ceiling and THEY are full. We can chicken, beef and deer meat. My wife is a canning fool when it comes to vegetables and during growing season we are either canning or dehydrating.

Prepping has really become a hobby for us.

One thing you all might want to consider for water is an RO filter

The one consideration in ROs is that they require pressurized water to work.

If anyone has info on a non-electric, no water pressure required RO system, I would be interested in seeing it.

Well, I have stopped giving in the past as well because I didn’t care to support the mob attacks that were going on.

Didn’t like freeloading but one does find it easy NOT to write that check.

Back on the bandwagon now and glad of it.

There is simply no way to get around the fact that FR provides what no one else does, at ANY price.

p.s. Tainted money is fine, it is that filthy lucre that spreads the germs lol.

Do you refrigerate that? Or is that okay on the shelf? Because that’s a great idea.

“Our pantry is 16X14 we have 4 freezers, make our own power have a private water source and an additional 50 head of livestock still eating on the pastures.”

Are you willing to adopt an older adult? LOL!

Your set-up sounds much like ours. Freepmail me about your power source if you don’t want to share it here. That’s our next step. We’ve got two pregnant beef cows coming this spring to get things rolling. Thanks! :)

“This is East Tennessee, there was a gun safe in the bedroom. Which was odd. Other houses we looked at had the gun safe in the living room.”

I like that idea! :)

I will pass that on to mr. mm as that’s his department.

Thanks for the info.

I asked mr mm for all the information he has on water purification.

We have a whole house filter that was a very reasonable cost that takes out almost anything. The source was some place down south that I suspect was a prepper place. It was a filter they had tested at work one time for someone and they got lots of water testing done on it to see how it works so we know it’s good. He was involved in the testing so knows. After that, we bought one, he was so impressed.

And then we got the RO filter loater.

When he gets me the info, I will be posting it here.

We bought extra filters for the Berkey. I forget how many thousands of gallons could be processed. But @ a gallon per day for each of us, we would still have spare unused filters when we are both 6 feet under.

I think a weakness in our system would be in case of earth quakes. We probably need to put something on each shelf to keep stuff from jiggling off the shelves.

“Proper prepping involves defense.”

Agreed. You have got to stand your ground. Period. If all you have is a loaf of bread, you could be killed for it in an all out survival situation.

These zombie shows are interesting. They are fictional drama intended as entertainment, but much of what goes on in these shows has some sense of reality. Such as everyone being armed to the teeth. Such as having to scavenge for food. Such as having to be nomadic in order to keep away from militant gangs wanting to kill you for your food. Etc.

I really do not think this Chinese Virus will ever come to that.
