Christine Rollins, 59, was attacked in Anahuac, east of Houston, outside a home where she worked as a caregiver to an elderly woman.

Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne told reporters on Monday: "In my 35 years I will tell you it's one of the worst things I've ever seen."

"No doubt in my mind that it was multiple animals and we can tell that from the different sizes of the bites," said Sheriff Hawthorne, adding that the homeowner's dogs appear to have chased away the hogs before Rollins' body was discovered.

The sheriff said neighbours had recently complained about rampant feral hogs, and officials have since laid traps for them.

People do not realize how dangerous a wild hog can be all by itself, much less a pack..................

Same with domestic dogs at night deciding to respond to the call of the wild.

As kids, we were not allowed near the “tame” hogs on the farm, because of this very reason.

The thought of wild ones makes my blood run cold.

Poor woman.

Screw “laying traps”, declare open season.

When people talk about nobody needing a 20-30 round mag, they should be shown this article.

“Laid Traps”!?

Night Vision goggles, 5 hunters, some baited areas, and you would have a feral hog slaughter in one night.

There's where the problem started. The neighbors should have set traps and shot the feral hogs themselves instead of waiting on "officials". Before humans and pets are attacked, it's best to have a freezer full of sausage.

Domestic hogs are also pretty dangerous if you fall down in a pen.

Strange, but I suspect there will be a sudden enthusiasm in the county for shooting feral pigs. Let’s just hope it is only feral pigs that get shot.

I don’t live in the areas of Texas where these things run wild, but I know from people who do that there are huge numbers of them here. A few years ago a friend of mine driving at twilight time drove her truck into a herd of them, killing 4 or 5 and doing a fair amount of damage to the truck.

Here in North Louisiana, there’s quite a bit of trapping occurring. Once caught, they’re fed a corn diet for a bit, then transmogrified into sausage.

Had some the other day. Purty good.

Chambers County Sheriff’s Office
on Sunday
Tragic Death

Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reports that early this morning the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a deceased female discovered in the front yard of a home in the 4000 block of State Hwy 61 in the rural area of Anahuac, TX.

Sheriff’s deputies identified the decedent as Christine Rollins, 59, of Liberty, TX.

Preliminary investigation reveals Rollins was the caretaker of an elderly couple who lives at the home. When Rollins didn’t show up at the normal time, the 84 year old homeowner went outside and found her laying in the yard between her vehicle and the home’s front door. When deputies arrived they found Rollins deceased, with multiple injuries to her body. It appears that she has an injury to her head that is consistent with a fall, but she also has numerous injuries that appear to be animal related.

Chambers County Justice of the Peace Pct 1, Yale Devillier, is doing an inquest and has ordered a forensic autopsy to assist in determining cause of death.

“At this time detectives are unable to determine if she collapsed due to a medical condition and the fall caused the head injury, or if the animals may have caused the fall and contributed to her death. But, at this time, we have no reason to believe that there is any foul play involved in her death,” said Sheriff Brian Hawthorne.

Government unresponsive to the people.

They let their people play Red Flag Murder instead of doing something useful.

Family should sue whomever was unresponsive into poverty.

I watched the video and the statistics are simply horrifying.

And now, I’m wondering when our local DNR will “introduce” hogs to my area, since they’ve already dragged bears, eastern wolves [”coyotes”] and mountain lions here.

Screw “laying traps”, declare open season.

Open year-round. You can spotlight them at night and shoot them from helicopters, too.

you wanna make sure it’s THOROUGHLY Cooked- wild hog is the number one cause of trichinosis- domestic pigs are practically free from trichinosis now thanks to farming regulations that address the problem- but wild hogs still are a major source of it
