As kids, we were not allowed near the “tame” hogs on the farm, because of this very reason.

The thought of wild ones makes my blood run cold.

Poor woman.

Screw “laying traps”, declare open season.

“declare open season.”

I believe they have already done that.

Screw “laying traps”, declare open season.

Open year-round. You can spotlight them at night and shoot them from helicopters, too.

I believe Texas has declared open season. The problem lies in where you can shoot safely. The suburbs makes response tough. Feral hogs are a very destructive and large problem.

I consider wild boars to be almost as dangerous as mountain lions.

It’s wild boar season all the time in Texas.

It’s always ope season on feral hogs. They are considered pests.

Missouri’s Department of Conservation has made it illegal to shoot wild hogs.
They insist it would be preferable to set large traps to collect three or four animals. Shooting one just spreads the tribe, they say.
The hogs exist in south Missouri and SE Missouri.
None hereabouts, thankfully.

We have a wild hog problem in parts of Oklahoma. Here...it is open season on wild hogs...24/7/365...no hunting license necessary.

What the hell were they thinking just laying traps. If they are referring to the large traps that will trap 10 or more hog, that would make sense, but a bounty on hogs would be also help.

My grandfather raised pigs, we were not allowed on the fence anywhere near the hog pens. Got a lesson in how mean they are when I watched my grandpa go into the pen (armed) to remove a sow who gave birth and was killed and cannibalized along with her piglets. He shot the boar responsible on the spot. He said once pigs cannibalize another hog like that they develop a taste for it and will continue to kill other pigs especially sows giving birth. He said if a pig every taste human flesh the herd has to be culled.

Scary animals, but wild ones taste so good, at least around here.

I think Texas and Oklahoma both are open season on wild hogs.

Anyone with a hunting license can take them at any time by any legal method, including artificial light, night vision and shooting from aircraft. There is no limit on the time or the number taken.

How much more "open" would you like the season to be?

Watch their videos and read their methodology.

Trapping makes more sense.
