The 42-year-old New York woman had trouble remembering words. She tried calling relatives who had died. She was having hallucinations and would drop things suddenly, WABC-TV and TODAY reported.
My episodes were getting more and more bizarre, she told TODAY. There were days that I didnt know where I was.
After countless doctors appointments, an MRI scan show[ed] a marble-sized lesion on the left side of her brain, which likely was a malignant tumor.
When she underwent a three-hour surgery to have the growth removed, doctors found something unexpected: a baby tapeworm.
"We were, like, overjoyed," Dr. Jonathan Rasouli told WABC. "We were, like, cheering and clapping."

That is the oddest looking brain scan I have ever seen. It looks like they turned off part of the lower left image where her jaw should be

That's a sagittal cut that is very far lateral. You can see the part of the ramus of the jaw, but not the body of the mandible.

My thoughts, as well.
But I am glad the story had a good outcome.

Ah...got it...forgot to take into account depth of view. My mistake. (I worked MRI manufacturing for years and my mind always goes to the testing standards and forgets about the additional slices.

Easy to forget if you’re not cycling through all the cuts at the same time. Cool that you worked MRI manufacturing. People just take for granted this incredible technology.

MRI's, brain scans, CT scans.....etc. All miracles of science that cost billions of dollars to develop and ultimately deploy in virtually every medical facility in this country........
Is this a great country or what?

This is an embarrassment to the radiologist, the surgeon, everyone involved had that image on their Board Exam. There was no reason to do the surgery.
