That is the oddest looking brain scan I have ever seen. It looks like they turned off part of the lower left image where her jaw should be

That's a sagittal cut that is very far lateral. You can see the part of the ramus of the jaw, but not the body of the mandible.

It’s probably not a direct side view but rather a diagonal “Slice”... we just aren’t used to oblique views.

Or it’s a vertical slice but not dead center … more like a slice that cuts through an eye, rather than down the center of the nose. So, there is no spine or nose or chin in this portion to view but we can see a cross section of the brow and cheek.
