In a major breakthrough in what could be the most fascinating story of our time, five U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet crewmen have recounted a number of incredibly strange encounters with unidentified flying objects off the East Coast of the United States. Two of the pilots went on the record. The surreal craft they encountered had performance that defies known propulsion and aerodynamic capabilities, and are described as looking like something akin to special effects you would have seen in a sci-fi movie circa the late 1980s. The pilots' accounts also point to a major sensor upgrade on their aircraft that made the presence of these craft even detectable at all.
What's even more important is that these events took place as recently as 2015, over a decade after the now famous Nimitz incident with the so-called 'Tic Tac' craft occurred. This is all coming to lightat least officiallyjust weeks after the U.S. Navy said it is changing its procedures for its service members reporting unexplained phenomenon in their operating environments.

Lt. Ryan Graves, an F/A-18 Super Hornet pilot who has been in the Navy for a decade has come forward after talking to the Navy and Congress about the events he and his squadron mates witnessed between 2014 and 2015.

These things would be out there all day... Keeping an aircraft in the air requires a significant amount of energy. With the speeds we observed, 12 hours in the air is 11 hours longer than wed expect. Source: NYTimes article.

According to Graves, Naval Aviators really began noticing the objects in their training areas after a major technological leap in air combat capability was fielded across much of the U.S. Navy's combat aircraft inventory [the AN/APG-79 Active Electronically Scanned Array radar].

We examined this peculiar move by the Navy [the Navy's strange public announcement that they were changing the reporting procedures for these types of encounters] and the odd timing of it in great detail in my last article on the subject, and this series of events likely had something to do with it. Regardless, with all this in mind, what can we take away from these new on the record revelations?
First off, they are a huge deal. We are talking about two more Navy fighter pilots on the record and another three talking to The New York Times on background. And this was not some account that occurred a decade or more in the past, this was just a couple years ago. Yet what strikes me the most is that once again, this series of encounters occurred in tightly sanitized airspace over the ocean where the military does its most advanced and complex training and testing, just like the Nimitz's Tic Tac incident many years earlier on the west coast. In that case, the gear and personnel involved were also preparing for a major deployment.

Everything except why some classified black group is testing these things among our aircraft and pilots in restricted training zones in such a way as to risk equipment loss and pilots lives.
Not saying some black group isn't doing such, just saying the Pentagon is going to be royally p!ssed if that is the case.
If I understand it correctly, the Navy has released it to the public.
There ain't no reason why the Navy should do this. Not denying that they did, but until the DoN has a solid grasp on what this is, whether real or a Radar phenomena, it should not be reported. There are just too many hysterical conspiracy theorists out there that will attach themselves to this and cause problems for the DoD.
There is a lot of experimental activity going on all the time, a lot of it classified. I suspect that these very infrequent 'encounters' are not the same thing but chance encounters with different activities. A hypersonic vehicle may show up on radar, but its not something a hornet driver is "almost going to hit". Two different things.
When I fly I regularly (as in about once a year) have near encounters with things varying from weather balloons to Mylar birthday balloons.
“These are not just radar encounters. They have been visually confirmed and confirmed by radar on ships supporting the aircraft.”
Where are videos? There are thousands of videos of every aspect of naval air operations yet none of the UFO’s....as far as we know. Give the pilots gopros for crying out loud.
No visual targets. Sometimes show up on both IR camera and radar.
The Romulan Cloak needs an upgrade.
That jumped right out at me too.
Of all the radars in use, ATC, military search bands, civilian weather, and of course other military platforms, why is this only showing in one aircraft type of radar? I know it is newer and more sensitive but anything that shows a doppler shift could paint this.
Another factor is that these anomalies occur over water, not land. One issue that you have already covered, is that the radar is processed and all information displayed is synthetic based on signal processing. I'm not an RF expert but I know that even common systems like AM radio are susceptible to all kinds of noise.
They’ve got visuals. See post #19 above.
I submit that just the opposite is what actually transpires. The Art Bell types take a sliver of info and cast a wide net claiming gov cover up. Releasing these tapes plays into that since the DoD has not released the findings of their investigations.
The F-117 was kept quite secret until it flew in operations in Central America. The Aurora Project also has been kept quiet. But the crux of my argument is this, IF what these aviators are seeing is US tech, it should remain closed off to the genpop. IF it is ET, then it should be released to the NSA for threat assessment.
Releasing to the public with no explanation is reckless.

UFOs have been reported by military pilots since WWII. Only now the press is interested. Why?
Or just know more physics than we do.
I hear what you are saying. But if the DoD is going to release anything, then don’t feed the nut job theorists. Keep it quiet or release data (not just a pic, video, and someone’s commentary) so that intelligent folks from across the various communities, can examine and debunk the nonsense. This can be done without disclosing military secrets.
Physics tells me that a hypersonic vehicle has limited maneuverability. So I don’t buy the stories that say these UFO’s are defying physics. Show me data and then we can talk.
By we I suppose you mean our aviators and astronauts, whose encounters have been muzzled just dont know the limits of the human body or even machines
...or maybe it’s just radar artifacts.
