#maximumsecurity
There was clearly interference. Rules is rules.
Looked like the horse behind Maximum Security caused the problems.
Kind of reminds me of Charles Dickens writing two endings to Great Expectations.
don’t just hate it when a sport enforces it’s rules. It’s contrary to our modern values where no one in power is held accountable.
My Big Media DJ was saying in the morning that it was a toss-up, and wouldn’t make a prediction.
An ancient sport of racing two giant animals on a muddy track meets modern American legalism, convoluted byzantine rules, technical analysis, and a media always ready to spread outrage.
Of course its a mess.
Just my observation: damn wet track, going around a turn pretty tough to see your lane when you are in the lead. Should have let the race stand.
House Democrats have announced they will hold hearings into the matter shortly, and will focus on whether the disqualification had anything to do with Trump financial interests. “This is outrageous!” said Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D) U.S. Senator Mazie Hironp (D) echoed these sentiments, “This is the worst case of obstruction by a sitting president I have ever seen!!”
I watched it. Jockeying for position in heavy mud is not a interference, its a horse race.
I fear there will be deaths when bookies refuse to pay up 65-1 on an obvious blatant cheating and DQ Of the winner for the first time since it all began in 1875.
Someone has lined their pockets.
I wonder who the stewards had their money on?
NFL officials failure to all interference results in outrage. Horse racing officials call interfenece, results in outrage.
Our family raced horses back in the ‘80’s. These are judgment calls. A no call would have been a better outcome for the race, and the other horse owners probably wouldn’t have complained much or appealed.
But, that’s horse racing.
"Section 12. Fouls. A leading horse when clear is entitled to any part of the track. Except in a straight-away racing, every horse must maintain position as nearly as possible in the lane in which it starts. If a leading horse, or any other horse in a race, swerves or is ridden to either side so as to interfere with or intimidate or impede any other horse or jockey, or to cause same, it is a foul; if a jockey strikes another horse or jockey, it is a foul. If in the opinion of the stewards, a foul alters the finish of a race, any offending horses may be disqualified by the stewards."
I have a couple of friends who have part ownership in some thoroughbreds and I inquired about their thoughts. The first one sent me this reply, “I lost a lot of money on the decision but I believe the stewards made the right call.”
There's always those that will claim that there were "too many winners" so the track had to fix the race. That's not how parimutuel wagering works.
Wow a bunch of people who watch 1-3 horse races a year didnt like something in the sport... who cares.
