Where do we come from? There are many right answers to this question, and the one you get depends on who you ask.
For example, an astrophysicist might say that the chemical components of our bodies were first forged in the nuclear fires of stars.
On the other hand, an evolutionary biologist might look at the similarities between our DNA and that of other primates' and conclude we evolved from apes.
Lisa Randall, a theoretical physicist at Harvard University, has a different, and novel answer, which she describes in her latest book, "Dark Matter and the Dinosaurs."
Randall has written other popular science books, including the New York Times bestseller "Warped Passages: Unraveling the Mysteries of the Universe's Hidden Dimensions." Her studies at Harvard explore theoretical particle physics and cosmology.
In her latest book, she posits that the extinction of the dinosaurs -- necessary for the emergence of humans -- is linked to dark matter. Dark matter is the mysterious, invisible matter that astronomers estimate makes up 85% of all matter in our universe.

Thanks SeekAndFind.
invisible matter that astronomers estimate makes up 85% of all matter in our universe.
*****************************************************************
According to my studies it’s actually 84.8872% but I won’t quibble with others saying 85%.
Sort of off topic, but did you see the Czar of Russia DNA results in the Daily Mail?
And I have twice as much proof for my numbers as they do. They have zero and I have twice that amount.
No kidding! Check out the Hebrew wiki page for DNA.
The characters get all messed up on FR so look the first line that gives the abbreviations.
Note the one with the English letters "spelled" out:
D-N-A, i.e
(dalet yud) (alef nun) (alef yud yud)
Permutes to ayin ei di... "No ID"
Then there's the gematria of that abbreviation..
"This is the only Name explicit in the Torah 's initial account of Creation. Elokim = 86 = "hateva" ("nature"). Elokim creates "nature" through the act of tzimtzum (apparent withdrawal or contraction of God's infinite light)."

Dark matter exists. We can observe its gravitational effect. What we don’t know yet is the particle or particles responsible for it.
She used to be cute but now she’s hit the wall.
Thanks, that sounds familiar, I may have loaded a story about it from one of the usual concentrator sites I use.
There were some unpinged topics in the FRchives, but nothing recent, here’s a couple of links:

Why do humans exist? Well, *someone* has to be the apex predator!
Well said. Religion and science can work in perfect harmony...and probably does even when we cannot see it or understand it.
That’’s RAAAACIIIIIst!!!!
But then everything is :)
Dark matter is a physicist’s delusion. It is a kludge bandaid for erroneous mathematical modeling based upon a previous mathematical modeling, not observation.
Physicists and astronomers hard headedly refuse to acknowledge that 99% of all matter in the Universe is in the plasma state, that is to say that it is ELECTRICAL, and as such is subject to magnetic fields and the electro-magnetic component of gravity. Google “Christian Berkland” and “Berkland Currents” and “Hannes Alfven”. They are even afraid to call the “Solar Wind” the “Solar Electric Current”.
Hell, they don’t even know what gravity IS, yet they spout the nonsense of mathematicians about dark matter, dark energy, big bang, black hole, etc., none of which are real, all of which are clung to by grant funding junkies who sacrifice truth for tenure.

As goes that great Richard Feynman line: “The joy of finding things out.”
sPerverted ZTV show.
Humans exist because the Gestalt knew that momma Gaia would be getting cool so something had to exist to make SUVs to warm her up.
Oh, and something was going to be needed to take care of domesticated pets.
So, the Gestalt decided to score a towfer and get both issues solved with a single device. That device is humans.
In “Second Genesis” By Donald Moffitt, the extinction of humans on Earth (and 3 subsequent species) is linked to a rotating set of arms in the Milky Way that kill intelligent things off every 37 million or so years.
I think that was called dark matter.
But the book is definitely heavy on the physics.
The book and its predecessor definitely gets points for ULTRA long time span, via slower than light travel and ultimately a 100 million year history.
“I haven’t read this latest Lisa Randall book but I recommend it anyway. I’ve read every other book she has written and they are just uniformly good. Great gal. Smart as a whip.”
Proposing that a chain of unproved theories and assumptions resulted in a single specific event like the mass extinction of dinosaurs is fantasy not science. Is she as smart as a long piece of braided leather? I’d agree with that.
Well and truly stated! Kudos
