Are you truly independent? Do you have the skills? Can you hunt, grow a garden, can food, sew-knit, live off the land? Are you ready? Do you possess the "lost" skills? Our family is ready. In obama's words, "bring it on". Once the economy collapses, I'll be here longer than the liberals and their pampered lives.
I have the handcranked ones as well as a last resort and one that is a lamp. For good lighting I prefer the higher lumens but the handcranked are great for backup and a couple even have radios on them.
While you are choking down your squirrels, I’ll be eating my Mountain House cans;-)
I can knit, crochet, sew, can, dehydrate. I do own a handcrank 1911 Singer that works and a manual frame knitting machine. We do garden. We are more ready than some but not quite there yet.
I am planning on having no battery power at all.....except for the generator I have.
I like the Datrex bars, has anyone had any experience with Mainstays and SOS bars? Are they worth the money?
I heard Mainstays are excellent (lemon flavor), but the SOS bars received subpar reviews compared to Datrex and Mainstay.
Where’s the best place to purchase the hand cranked lights? I’ve got a hand cranked radio, but not lights...
Dried goods also.
I got a boatload (well, a small boat) of egg noodles and the dried in-an-envelope gravy mixes, that sort of thing.
One day, just to try it, I cooked up some noodles, made some gravy, and had it with peppercorns and home-grown oregano.
Hell, it was delicious!
Not sure of the best place to buy. But I will say this is on my list.....like the idea that it acts as a charger.
I bought some dynamo lights on ebay at a good price.
>> We’ll survive, will you?
I’m cautiously confident we will. We can make stuff and fix stuff (and have the resources to do so), grow stuff, work hard, and above all we know how to pray.
In the end — whatever happens — our time here on this earth is but a vapor. I’m eager to get on to the next thing, whenever God wills it.
I enjoyed looking at your homepage. I am proud of your daughter and all that she has done for US. And I’m proud of you, too, for raising her! God bless you all.
FRegards
Forgot to add.....the Datrex/Mainstay/SOS bars have a 5 year shelflife so must be rotated out. But I got a box of 30 2400 calorie Datrex bars for $100. About 72,000 calories for a hundred bucks. Not bad at all.
Make sure to put at least one radio in a faraday cage in case of emp. Two-way radios are also nice, just in case.
Unbelievable! I’m SOLD!
I’m picking up two, as soon as possible. What a great idea!
Thanks!
What the heck is a faraday cage?
Hey, check out the link to post #149. That’s what I’m buying...
It’s a metal box, or mesh box, designed to protect electronic components from nuclear EMP and solar flare type stuff. I’m using cookie tins :) you have to keep the contents from touching the sides/insulate them, but tin foil can work in a pinch, just not as well.

I recently heard about these myself. They protect from electro magnetic waves.
....if anyone can provide a link on how to construct one of these cages, it would be appreciated.
Thanks
I like that radio. Walmart even has some wind up flashlight radios, but I generally don’t shop there. As the survivalist movement gains momentum, more and more items are common. I bought a few ow my fadio/flashlight comb’s for $5.99 at a local grocery store. Though, in the area that I live, survivalism has been big about 150 years.

Do you think the powers that be have each put at least one TRANSMITTER in a Faraday cage in case of EMP? You’d better hope so, or your receiver will just be a nice paperweight.
