Disney not being the government, the terms of its employment contracts should be left entirely to the results of private negotiation.

By what right does any private or public entity seek to contravene the lawfully passed and enacted law of the land? Until the law is repealed any lawfully armed individual (with exceptions including my circumstances as a public school teacher) with a CCW permit may bring his firearm and leave it locked in his car at the work site because no business has the right to deny me the right to self defense on the roads to and from work.

The dispute centers aound having a weapon in your car which is your personal property and not Disney property. State law allows weapons in your personal vehicle.

This really is a tough one.

On the one hand, you have a VERY SPECIFIC right, the right to self defense of the method of your choosing,

then you have the property owners - Disney,

on which you have another piece of property, the vehicle.

Hmmm.. still have to go with the real (estate) property owner - Disney.

The employee could keep his gun in his vehicle if it were parked on public property, not private.

Don’t get me wrong- big gun rights person here, but I also am a big property rights person.

This is one of those on the fence ones. It seems to be a clash between private property and gun rights. On one hand, citizens are demanding the right to carry and the State law does allow people to keep guns in their car, however, on the other hand, what rights does Disney have in saying what can or cannot be brought on its private property.

>> Can Disney ban employees from bringing guns to work?

Yeah — they really can. The Constitution forbids government infringement on the right to keep and bear arms. Private property rights still prevail — Disney can keep firearms off of their property to whatever extent they desire. The 2nd Amendment is not applicable to Disney.

Perhaps those coming down the the side of carrying weapons should ponder whether someone has a right to post a sign:

Do not come on my property with a gun.

I read somewhere where a guy put a letter on file with his estate attorney that if he was killed violently on a property that disallowed weapons, his estate was to sue that property owner because the owner inherently assumed the responsibility of protecting all persons on that property by denying them the right to protect themselves.

The constitution only states that the government shall not infringe on a person’s right to bear arms.

Disney has every right to prohibit fire arms on privately owned property.

Sorry, but an Individual Right granted by the Almighty and protected by the US Constitution trumps your private negotiation every day!

No it isn't.
Is Disney stepping up to provide the armed protection for their employees both to work from wherever they are coming from, and to wherever they are going afterwards?
If they are not replacing the armed protection they are attempting to deny their employees then they are Morally, Ethically, and Legally wrong.

That suit shouldn’t work. He had the ‘right’ not to set foot on a property where he was not allowed to carry.

I didn't see a poll on that page but it should have been worded like this:

"Should Goofy have a gun?"
