My son has cable and he has no trouble. He lives in a small town south of us.
Where I'm located, it is not cost effective for the telephone company to run cable. Houses are quarter to a half mile apart. Some places, there is a mile between houses.

"Do you always carry your TV remote?" the cashier asked. "No," she replied. "But my husband refused to come shopping with me, so I figured this was the most evil thing I could do to him."
That is brilliant and so true men are a menace with the remote control if it is not channel hopping in the commercial break it is teletext looking up. My dad constantly goes to either a news station or teletext every commercial break and 9 times out of ten we miss the first 30 seconds of the resumption of the programme we are watching.

My goodness I thought my internet was expensive at 28.00 pounds sterling cable plus 12.00 pounds sterling dial up in case I have a problem with the cable. Giving me a total of about 40.00 pounds sterling so dependant upon conversion rate I suppose it is about 70.00 dollars a month.
I somehow thought the states was much cheaper.

The Adventures of Superman
Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Look! Up in the sky. It's a bird. It's a plane. It's a meteor. It's Superman! Yes, it's Superman - strange visitor from another state who came to Washington with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men. Superman - who can change the course of mighty rivers, bend steel in his bare hands, and who, disguised as George Bush, mild-mannered president for a great conservative country, fights a neverending battle for Truth, Justice, and the American Way.
Happy Sky-Meteor-Superman Day! (and don't get too carried away with the hype)

Oh to soar about the sky,
And look down on the Earth.
To flit among the clouds aloft,
I dreamed of it from birth.
To dive and climb at my whim,
To circle lazily.
For now I use an airplane,
It matters not to me.
When my mortal life is done,
A bird Id like to be.
To soar upon my own wings,
Would be Heaven to me.

Mornin' Amy's Place.
Forecast calls for 99 degrees today. Is it Miller time yet?
To: snugs
Just like telephone lines, someday they will find a way to get cable to the rural areas.
Thirty years ago, I could not afford a private phone line because I would have had to pay mileage for the line. It was not a one time charge but a monthly charge. Sure happy they resolved that problem.

Assemblage of heavenly blue
The sky with its tinge of heavenly blue,
The sky which is coherent and true.
The sky so beautiful with its purplish face,
The sky that can conquer the human race.
The sky so sweet at lemonade,
The sky that can bring the earth an adolescent grade.
The sky that helps at the time of drought,
The sky that causes newborn seeds to sprout.
The sky that can bring crackling floods,
Doing so can shed a lot of blood.
The sky black and swollen near the river bank,
Hungry clusters of flower expecting all they can.
The drops of pelting water all hope for,
The sheets of rain showers already gone.
The sky with it protuberant legs stretched,
The sky that can get a house creshed.

ARC OF LIGHT
Descending in an arc of light
The meteor knows its transience,
Illuminating by downfall.
This is sufficient:
The moment is complete without infinity.
The meteor, plunging, is on its way down.
Down is the only direction.
But, while it falls,
There is an arc of light in the sky.

Um, Amy? That's not a meteor, it's a comet.
Specifically, it's Hale-Bopp, distinguishable in photographs by the divided tail, part being gases, and part being dust.
And isn't that the one the "Doh!" crowd tried to hitch a ride on?

To: NicknamedBob
Well shoot! .......... If I'd known I was posting a comet, I could have used your comet poem or was it about a meteor?
Good afternoon, NnB. Good to see you.
Do you have a sky, meteor or superman poem to share with us today? :)
I found one about the sky and I found one about a meteor but I didn't find one about superman.
Hope you have a nice, cool day. Temp in Fresno is 99. It is too hot, but it will probably get warmer before the cooler weather gets here.
