God Bless you Amy in reminding us that freedom indeed is not free it has a cost both financial and more importantly with the precious lives of the troops who defend freedom, God Bless them all.

It always warms my heart to see your President, Vice President etc supporting your military here are a few photos illustrating that which I feel are fitting to post on Support the Armed Forces Day.

I also love seeing your President visiting the injured military he truly has a caring heart which is so evident during those visits. Here are 2 photos during a visit to Walter Reed hospital 9th November 2004

Happy Armed Forces Day!

Freedom Isn't Free

I watched the flag pass by one day.
It fluttered in the breeze
A young soldier saluted it, and then
He stood at ease.

I looked at him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud
With hair cut square and eyes alert
He'd stand out in any crowd.

I thought how many men like him
Had fallen through the years.

How many died on foreign soil?
How many mothers' tears?
How many Pilots' planes shot down?
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
No Freedom isn't free

I heard the sound of taps one night,
When everything was still.
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.

I wondered just how many times
That taps had meant "Amen"
When a flag had draped a coffin
of a brother or a friend.

I thought of all the children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives.

I thought about a graveyard at the
bottom of the sea
Of unmarked graves in Arlington.....
No -- Freedom isn't free!!

What Does God Like?

Read:
Ephesians 5:15-21

Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. -Ephesians 5:18-19

Bible In One Year: Psalm 124-126

cover Some churches have become divided over styles of worship. One group may be insisting on a traditional service, while another is agitating for a more contemporary format.

We can all profit from a lesson a man learned on a business trip after attending a church service near his hotel. He talked with the pastor about how he had been blessed by the sermon, even though some of the worship time was not to his liking.

The pastor simply asked, "What was it you think God didn't like?" The man had the grace to reply, "I don't suppose there was anything He didn't like. I was talking about my own reaction. But worship isn't really about me, is it?"

We are entitled to our own preferences, and we must hold firmly to our biblical convictions. But before we voice our fault-finding opinions, let's seriously try to understand God's viewpoint. Consider Ephesians 5 in the light of worship: We are to be filled with the Spirit, speak to each other in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, give thanks to God, and submit to one another (vv.19,21).

Whatever the style of worship, as we express to God our praise for who He is and all He has done, we lift Him up and encourage others. That's what God likes. -Vernon Grounds

Let us celebrate together,
Lift our voice in one accord,
Singing of God's grace and mercy
And the goodness of the Lord. -Sper

At the heart of worship is worship from the heart.

The Rugged Cross

Rugged, is the word we use, to remind us of its age,
It seems that it was long ago, that words were put to page.
We have the testimony, of follower and friend,
Of how a brave heroic type, will go to meet His end.

Rugged is a word for him, who stood against the pain,
And took it for the sake of us, that we could shelter gain.
No greater love to give your life, for even just one friend,
How great Thou art, to multiply, for all the lives of men.

The cross now is our symbol, a symbol of His love,
To bear the pain, and shoulder it, to help us rise above.
He bore the punishment for us, and cleared away the road,
That leads us to that promised land, where He makes His abode.

Cliff Burton 1962-1986
My tribute to Metallica's Cliff Burton.

His name was Cliff. Born in 1962.
His hair red. His eyes blue.
At a bar one night, they sat in the crowd,
While Cliff played his music aloud.
They thought he was great,
Perfect for their band.
Cliff was on his way to a Metallicland.
A storm flew by and left a trail behind.
Kill Em All
Ride The Lighting
Master Of Puppets
That was the end.
The bus full of people,
Crashed.
Everyone survived,
But not Cliff.
Some say it was a mistake,
He was taken too soon.
But on that cold September day,
Cliff Burton died.
Millions cried, but the music survived.

Moving On.
Part 2 Of Cliff Burton.

They moved on without him.
But it was never really the same.
They could never accept Jason,
Even if he put all he had in the game.

Fourteen years later, Jason left the band.
They swear they never wanted to be in this situation once again.
As time moved on, James left too.
There wasn’t much left for Kirk and Lars to do.
James came back with a new view on life.
He had to leave to make it better for his kids and wife.

After many months, the guys talked it through.
There was still a lot of grieving left to do.
James was in a new place,
A place different from before.
Now was the rest of Metallica ready to open that door ?

In order to get ready for a new member,
They had to talk about the one who left that September.
James was mad at Cliff because he left.
In their minds,
Cliff Burton wasn’t supposed to die just yet.

The band went on to forgive Jason.
They respect him for all the time he gave them.
Metallica wanted a clean slate for the new member of the band.
His name is Rob, and he’s on his way to a Metallicland.

I Love These Pictures of Our President, Vice President and the Men and Women of Our Armed Forces!!

Thank you for the wonderful pictures that you share with us. It is so obvious that President Bush and Vice President Cheney care about the men and women who defend this country.
