Say The Word
They have all turned aside, they have together become corrupt. -Psalm 14:3
|
People seldom use the word sin anymore. When we do something wrong, we say we showed "inappropriate behavior" or made a "tactical error" or "mistake." We may even say, "I have done a bad thing." It seems as if people have come to believe in their own innate goodness.
We do so in spite of overwhelming physical and spiritual evidence to the contrary. As I write, genocide is rampant in Sudan. Unbelievable atrocities have been endured in Bosnia and Rwanda. Who can forget the killing fields of Cambodia? And what about the millions of unborn babies killed in the US in the name of convenience? Evil has not dropped off the face of the earth. As followers of Jesus, we must steadfastly resist the efforts of our world to minimize the reality of sin. We must agree with God that "there is none who does good, no, not one" (Psalm 14:3). Recognizing the sins of nations is easier than admitting our own personal sin. But we need to confess the specific sins we commit against our holy God. "If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us" (1 John 1:10). Call your sin sin and confess it to God. -Dave Egner
If we would know God's power to heal And cleanse us from within, We must acknowledge when we're wrong, Confessing sin as sin. -Fasick
Jesus' blood can cleanse any sin, but is powerless to forgive an excuse.

Love that list of sentances on how stupid our English language can be.
It reminds me a book that a friend of mine has "First Aid in English" which has things like a Parliment of Rooks, A kit of pigeons etc in it.

What gender are computers?
A large group of women reported that computers should be referred to in the masculine gender because:
1. In order to get their attention you have to turn them on
2. They have a lot of data but are still clueless
3. They are supposed to help solve problems but half the time they are the problem.
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer you could have had a better model.
The men, on the other hand, thought that computers should be referred to in the feminine gender because:
1. No one but the Creator understands their internal logic.
2. The native language they use to communicate with each other is incomprehensible to everyone else.
3. Even your smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for future retrieval
4. As soon as you make a committment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.
Have a Great Day!

Thanks for the note and poem. I enjoy reading them.
I just got home from my eye dr. He did not have to change my glasses but he did say he was going to try to get a lens for my right eye which has a very bad eye problem. It has kerakorneus or however it is spelled which means it is not shaped right so the light hits it many different ways. It is a good thing that my left is good! He did say that I may have to have a cornea transplant if something happens to my good eye. There is something going on around here all the time. Never a dull moment!!!!

Pollyannaish ...... Welcome to Amy's Place. Hope you enjoy our fare and will visit often.
MamaB .... please accept my condolences on the loss of your daughter. It has been many years ago but I also lost a daughter. She was 9 months old. The age doesn't matter, they live in your heart forever. Welcome to Amy's Place; I think you will find the people here very warm and friendly.
DollyCali .... thanks for pinging some new FReepers to Amy's Place.
Bro ...... A day late, but Happy Brothers and Sister Day. I hope you come by and give MamaB and Pollyannaish a wolf whistle. Hugs to you. ((( Bro )))

No wonder immigrants have such a tough time learning the language. :)
Heck, it's a wonder we almost learned it.

You did great, Rus. Thanks for the link.
I can see why you were voted the best speaker of the night.
We definitely need to hold our representatives feet to the fire.
