RE: computer...The "hard stuff" is done. I am going to swap sound & graphic cards from one computer to this one. I wont be able to load MS Office, as I don't have another copy at this point. Lots of software to put on. It is really fun to do (when things work) but everything takes so long & the learning curve vacillates.

I keep all material on 3 external hard drives so the annoyance of flipping from one computer to another is present.

Buddha... my goodness...., I wish my scanner was set up.. I had an 8 week trip in Hong Kong & Japan years ago.. some wonderful pix.. most are on slides. yes, another project. Do any of you have lists of projects .. and each project is very long / involved?

Clear , crisp night.. lots of stars.. Had a great Thai dinner & saw Bruce Willis movie (he has two out as recent releases & I saw them both this week)...

My problem is my list of projects is not organized. LOL

It is "Oh yeah ..... I need to call a handyman to do this or that".

If you get your slides uploaded, we will probably have another day that they will work into our celebration.

Tomorrow is Astronauts Day and Sunday is Siblings Day and Golfers Day. They should be a little easier for me. :)

See you tomorrow ..... I'm heading to bed.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Happy Ugadi and Astronauts Day!

Kalpana Chawla, Mission Specialist and prime robotic arm operator

on the last flight of the Columbia, and first female Astronaut of Indian Origin.

NOTE: Ugadi is a Hindu new year festival that heralds the onset of spring,
the vibrancy of new life, verdent fields, and meadows full of colorful blossoms
signifying growth, prosperity, happiness and well-being.

The Cross And The Crown

Read:
Mark 11:1-11

Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey. -Zechariah 9:9

Bible In One Year: 2 Samuel 19-21

cover On the day we call Palm Sunday the Lord Jesus presented Himself to Israel as their King when He rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. Had He been astride a spirited horse, He would have looked more kingly. But Zechariah had prophesied He would come in the humble way that He did.

Why? Kings of the East rode donkeys when on errands of peace. The horse was used as a charger in war.

The multitudes thought in terms of earthly prosperity and freedom from Rome. So they cried, "Hosanna in the highest!" (Mark 11:10). Yet a few days later, the shouts of the crowd became: "Crucify Him!" (15:13).

Some who declare themselves admirers of Jesus do not recognize Him as the Savior of sinners. But our deepest need cannot be met until our sin problem is overcome. For this reason Christ rode into Jerusalem on a donkey with His face set toward the cross, knowing full well the shameful and painful death He would suffer there. Now, having paid the price for human sin, He is highly exalted at God's right hand and will come again as King of kings and Lord of lords. His cross had to precede His crown.

If we want to be part of His heavenly kingdom, we must trust Him as our Savior now. -Herb Vander Lugt

If in heaven a crown you'd wear
And bright palms of victory bear,
Christ the Savior you must claim;
Find redemption in His name. -Anon.

There would be no crown-wearers in heaven had Christ not been the cross-bearer on earth.

Mornin' Amy.

A day late, but here's another contribution to Buhdda Day. A giant Buhdda in Kamakura, Japan. Went to to see it when I was in Japan back in my Navy days. I've got a bunch of slides of it but haven't scanned them yet. We were there to see and photograph the statue, but the local Japanese school kids were eager to have their pictures taken by friends standing next to an American sailor with Buhdda in the background.

Graphic by Billie

We Didn't Eat The Daisies

Well... Yes, Thumper did
But really not a lot.

We saw the yellow flowers
Above the shiny red clay pots
We circled them for the longest time
Drawn closer by the scent

Then Misty started to sniff
The petals and tip the clay
While Thumper dug into the loam
Flicking the rich black soil outside
And onto the porch behind Amy's home.

"You've made a mess!" I told them both
As the flower fell face up to the sun.
"Amy loves her pretty things!"
But Thumper and Misty's mischief
Had only just begun!

"The flower taste so sweet!" Misty declared
Her tongue flicking over the tips.
While Thumper twisted his head inside the pot
Savoring the loam's rich Earthy smells
In great big Kitty sips!

Misty rolled in the damp black dirt.
As Thumper emptied the big clay vase.
To nibble on a few tips of the flower.
Then hiss and spit as the inviting yellow petals
Surprised him in being so foul and sour.

"Solly, you were right!" Thumper mewed
As my paws pad on his tummy.
Misty nods as Thumper adds
"How can something taste so bad
When it looks and smells so yummy?"

Spring
By Thomas Nashe

Spring, the sweet Spring, is the year's pleasant king;
Then blooms each thing, then maids dance in a ring,
Cold doth not sting, the pretty birds do sing,
Cuckoo, jug, jug, pu-we, to-witta-woo!

The palm and May make country houses gay,
Lambs frisk and play, the shepherds pipe all day,
And we hear aye birds tune this merry lay,
Cuckoo, jug, jug, pu-we, to-witta-woo!

The fields breathe sweet, the daisies kiss our feet,
Young lovers meet, old wives a sunning sit
In every street, these tunes our ears do greet,
Cuckoo, jug, jug, pu-we, to-witta-woo!
Spring, the sweet spring!

In the series "Best Poetry Ever"

So We'll Go No More a-Roving
George Gordon Byron

So we'll go no more a-roving
So late into the night,
Though the heart still be as loving,
And the moon still be as bright.

For the sword outwears its sheath,
And the soul outwears the breast,
And the heart must pause to breathe,
And love itself have rest.

Though the night was made for loving,
And the day returns too soon,
Yet we'll go no more a-roving
By the light of the moon.
