Flowers

I look at the soil of darkness and putrescence,
How can flowers find sustenance there?
And yet from soil and sunlight they somehow,
Will lift perfection in the air.

The honeybee enjoys the harvest,
And journeys deep in the flower-bell.
She wallows in the joy of life,
While we only get a smell.

Don't say that I will depart tomorrow—
even today I am still arriving.

Look deeply: every second I am arriving
to be a bud on a Spring branch,
to be a tiny bird, with still-fragile wings,
learning to sing in my new nest,
to be a caterpillar in the heart of a flower,
to be a jewel hiding itself in a stone.

I still arrive, in order to laugh and to cry,
to fear and to hope.
The rhythm of my heart is the birth and death
of all that is alive.

Tulip hasn't posted them yet but my research shows today is:

1. Buddha Day
2. Hana Matsuri (Japan)

I think we should also celebrate Spring! :)

Is that your yard? It looks somewhat like Rainbow Bridge and is almost as pretty.

Good morning, Weinie.

I wish that was my yard. It's beautiful, isn't it? Billie gave us that graphic; it may be her yard.

Tell Lonestar that there is another day we will be celebrating today so she should stick around. :)

The last spring flowers my mum ever planted before her dementia got so bad that she was no longer capable of understanding how to dig a hole and put a plant into it.

Some Buddhists, mostly from Japan, celebrate Hana Matsuri, the birth of Buddha on April 8.

Hana means flower, and Buddha's birthday is a flower festival.

Buddha's actual birthday is in May.

Happy Hana Matsuri!

WINTER'S OVER!

Spring has made its presence known.
The front yard Zoisia is busy
Changing from beige to green.
The back yard is a soggy bog
The wettest I've ever seen.

So, I've gotten one of my wishes.
The ground's too soft for cutting grass
Or planting bulbs and flowers.

If I try, I'm afraid that I may find
In errant foot prints and holes.
Tiny slithery little migrating fishes!
