LOL -- I'm sorry about that.
My hockey team had our first playoff game tonight (we won!!), and I'm exhausted.
I'll be here all evening tomorrow night, though.

Beautiful Graphic, Victoria. Thank you!!
St.Louie gave me the graphic for Louie/Max and I thought he should have a place of honor at Amy's. Seems we haven't had any mice or trolls recently.

Celebrate The Baby
Read: Luke 2:8-14
There is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11
Bible In One Year: Nahum 1-3; Revelation 14
Why do we celebrate Jesus' birthday so differently from other birthdays? When it's time to honor historical figures who have a day set aside for them, we don't think about them as babies. We don't have pictures of cute little Abe Lincoln in his log cabin in Kentucky. No, we remember him for his contributions as an adult.
It is proper, though, that we celebrate Jesus as a child. Think about it. When He was born, shepherds came to honor Him (Luke 2:15-16). Later, wise men from the East brought Him gifts (Matthew 2:8-12). These people had no idea what Christ would eventually accomplish as an adult. But they were right in doing what they did, because Jesus' birth was the most remarkable event in human history.
How amazing! God in human form. The Creator of the universe visiting this planet. Let's never hesitate to celebrate this baby at Christmas. Marvel at His incarnation. Stand in awe of the tiny baby who had created His worshipers. Then step back in wonder, for the story gets even better. This baby grew into manhood, lived a perfect life, and willingly died for your sins and mine.
Celebrate the baby and trust the Savior. That's how to make Christmas complete. Dave Branon
How wonderful that we on Christmas morn,
Though centuries have passed since Christ was born,
May worship still the Living Lord of men,
Our Savior, Jesus, Babe of Bethlehem. Hutchings
Wise men today worship not only the Child of Bethlehem, but also the Man of Calvary.

From the Breaking of the Plates, to the Feast of the Radishes, Christmas time in Oaxaca is a vivid celebration that combine Christian religious traditions with the deeply-rooted sense of community that bind together the pueblos and colonias. Festivites begin with a series of calendas, or parades, featuring processions of huge dancing puppets, decorated autos, carriages, and bicycles, and a strolling brass band. You will find a generosity of spirit that blossoms throughout the month of December culminating at Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. (Actually, you will also find my wife and I in Oaxaca in mid-January in case you need some radishes. Merry Christmas!)

I see that old look in your eyes
Oh don't ask me to go
I'd take the hurt from you
In any way I could
Dear you know this
You're walking away
Silence as the day fades away
Discussion's pointless.
Banished now from your presence
Where I'd wanted to stay
An emptiness beside
As I stand by your grave
And fading dreams bring tears
And blur into my memory
All my memories tonight
But a whisp of fragile time
Just let me stay,
with my memories
Tonight

I think from now on I'll read the whole thread before I post - so I'm not a copycat any more. I thought I had found the 'perfect' pix for the Feast of the Radishes day. Apparently OESY thought so too - and did it before me! :)

I loved this write-up:
Popping up calories
It maybe a nice idea to eat a packet full of popcorn while you are watching a movie, but it does not go well with the `low-salt, low-fat' philosophy of a healthy diet. Read on to find out more facts about popcorn.
Popcorn and movies seem to be made for each other, and popcorn is a modern metaphor for all that is shallow, meaningless and fluffy in modern art. This is weird, because the puffed-up corn is hardly a modern invention. Popcorn is old, man. Very old. How old? Well, archaeologists in North America have dug up toasted kernels of popcorn that date back to the first millennium A.D. Apart from snacking on it, Native Americans were using this modern symbol of triviality in very un-trivial religious ceremonies for thousands of years. They even decorated their hair with it. Popcorn is really an accident of nature that was waiting to happen once man harnessed fire. A few varieties of maize, especially the rice and pearl varieties, have kernels with a very hard exterior and a moisture-laden interior. Toasting the maize to twice the boiling point of water causes the moisture to build up into steam powerful enough to burst its way through the tough hull, turning the grain inside out with a popping sound hence the name "popcorn". The fluffy, burst grain can be nearly 45 times as big as the original seed.
Nutrition wise, the popcorn is plain maize through and through. The fluff and air do not change the fact that 100 gm of rice or pearl maize will still hold 340 calories when turned into popcorn. This is the calorie equivalent of nearly five medium-sized eggs! Maize is deficient in the amino acids tryptophan and lysine, which are essential for the body.

RIGHT WAY: An easy way to prepare corn.
The body cannot manufacture these from other amino acids, and they must be present in the food we eat, so it is a bad idea for dieters to substitute a large bowl of popcorn for a regular balanced meal. Maize also contains an excess of the amino acid, leucine, which interferes with the conversion of tryptophan into the B vitamin, niacin. A crash diet of popcorn and little else can lead to pellagra, a disease caused by a deficiency of niacin. Diarrhoea, dermatitis and dementia characterise pellagra, which is common where maize and jowar are the staple foods.
The dieter's fondness for popcorn is easy to understand but hard to condone. Calming hunger pangs by eating a few handfuls of popcorn between meals may aid weight loss in the short term, but it is also indicative of a bad, unsustainable dieting plan.
If you feel hungry in between meals, you are on the wrong dieting plan. Besides, most popcorn is salted and buttered, which goes against the low-salt, low-fat philosophy of a healthy, balanced diet. An occasional packet at the movies is okay, but a popcorn habit at home is probably neither healthy nor wise.

"Winter Wonderland"
Click for music
Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight,
We're happy tonight,
Walking in a winter wonderland.
Gone away is the bluebird
Here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song,
As we go along,
Walking in a winter wonderland.
In the meadow we can build a snowman
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say: Are you married?
We'll say: No man,
But you can do the job
When you're in town
Later on, we'll conspire
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid
The plans that we've made,
Walking in a winter wonderland.
When it snows, ain't it thrilling
Though your nose gets a chilling
We'll frolic and play, the Eskimo way,
Walking in a winter wonderland.
Walking in a winter wonderland,
Walking in a winter wonderland.
