Dreams in Flight
Santa came to me one night, when I had gone to bed.
A time when I should have had some sugar plums in my head.
I was pretty little then, I knew not what to think,
I didnt really disbelieve, but I was on the brink.
I couldnt see how reindeer could have figured how to fly,
Unless they had the dreams that caused my brother and I to try.
An old bedsheet that had gotten a bit too tattered and too worn,
Some colors like a comic-book and a super-hero was born!
Oh, yes, we tried! But somehow, all our hopes kept getting dashed,
And all the schemes that didnt work, just ended being trashed.
The Air Force had just opened up the realm of wild blue yonder,
And seeing clouds still makes me pause, still makes me smile and ponder.
Whatever would have happened, if I had flown away?
Would living them have caused the death, of all my dreams that day?
If I had flown just as I wished, succeeding in my schemes,
Would I be now, this grown-up boy who still flies off in dreams?

Country Christmas
Christmas was always a special time
In the country so long ago
Firelight danced on windowpanes
As hearts began to glow.
As a child, I yet remember
Gathering around the tree
Grandpa's old time stories
Filled every face with glee.
Savory smells drifted through the air
In a heavenly atmosphere
Voices cracked with happiness
As Christmas day drew near.
Homemade pies aligned the shelves
Made by Grandma's aging hands
And something spiritual touched us all
As the Yuletide swept the land.
T'was an ole fashioned country Christmas
Blessed with lots of Christmas snow
Sleigh rides for the young at heart
And hanging mistletoe.
Now my heart fills up with gladness
As the season brings its cheer
When these thoughts of mine go back in time
To recapture yesteryear.

OK. I want Boeing 777 from Santa Claus. Just ask Santa baby. And while you're at it, let him know I'd like a little red sports car and diamond earrings.

Small Spark, Big Fire
Read: James 3
The tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! James 3:5
Bible In One Year: Micah 6-7; Revelation 13
In June 2002, the Hayman fire destroyed more than 137,000 acres of beautiful mountain forest in Colorado. Smoke darkened the skies, choking residents of cities 40 miles away. Thousands of people evacuated their homes, and millions of dollars were spent fighting a blaze that began with a single match.
Small spark, big fire. That's the way James described the damage done by our reckless and careless words. "See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. . . . It defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell" (3:5-6).
The Bible urges us not to underestimate the destructive potential of what we say. One incendiary remark can kindle an inferno of emotional harm. The best way to avert the flames of anger is to keep from striking that first match. We must let the wisdom of God check our thoughts before they leave our tongues. "The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy" (v.17).
As we draw on God's wisdom through His Word, we can smother the sparks of dissension and instead speak words of peace. David McCasland
One careless word can be a spark
Igniting anger into flame;
It can destroy relationships
And bring reproach to Jesus' name. Sper
Words can't break bones, but they can break hearts.

Thoughts of Christmas.......
When I think of Christmas morning,
The gaily wrapped gifts and the tree;
Brings to mind a gift so precious,
And all He was meant to be.
When I look at the tree Christmas morning,
The lights that twinkle and glow;
I think of the manger in Bethlehem,
Of a babe born on a night long ago.
When I see the joy Christmas morning,
The faces so filled with delight;
I think of the bright shining star,
That guided the wise men that night.
As we meet together Christmas morning,
To celebrate anew the birth;
The coming of the prince of peace,
Is the greatest gift on earth.

"Guess what I found in a box in the basement???"Quick story for you, last week, a childhood friend was going through boxes in the basement, getting ready for Christmas. This is the house that he grew up in. His Mom and Dad passed away over 20 years ago, while he was still in high school. Well, he found a box with $10,000 in cash in it. Called his brother and sisters, wow...what a Christmas present from his folks this year!
