TP: THREAT POTENTIALS [UNCONVENTIONAL, IMPROBABLE OR NOT]
USGS QUAKE EMAIL ^ | 21 JUN 2004 | Quix, USGS

Posted on 06/21/2004 4:31:10 PM PDT by Quix

GREETINGS,

FOLLOWING is a note re todays Alaskan quake. First a comment about this thread.

SOME FREEPERS are fascinated with fringe areas of reality. Some of us even think the fringe areas of knowledge, research, anecdotal stories and the like will have very impactful effects on the WAR ON TERROR, WWIII, Biblical end time events etc.

WE ALSO FIND FREEPERS FULL OF GREAT CREATIVITY OF THOUGHT, INSIGHT, WORK RELATED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS ETC. useful in collecting diverse puzzle pieces and in analyzing them. This diversity is priceless and virtually unavailable on any other site.

While we are seriously interested in topics which others scoff at, throw tinfoil hat assaults at and which we often even can't discuss calmly with many of our relatives and friends--we are either not all loonies or not 100% looney--though perhaps, hopefully, healthily insane in an insane society a la Eric Fromm.

Nevertheless, we do NOT enjoy nor appreciate hostile flame wars and the like just because we enjoy fringe puzzle pieces and analysis. Nor do we wish to cast the least bit of aspersions on FR.

I do not know how many of us will be willing to show up and post on this thread. Many are gunshy from all the flame attacks such topics typically trigger hereon. However, if my FREEPMAIL is any hint, there are plenty to be interested in such a thread.

HOWEVER, to whatever degree I may be graced with the ability to do so--this thread will NOT tolerate flame wars, flame posts, hostile jabs at other posters etc. I will do my utmost to get such posts pulled immediately.

The THREAT MATRIX thread has done mostly pretty well at creating and maintaining a lot of resourcefulness, creativity, camaraderie, mutual supportiveness and friendliness.

I hope and expect that this thread can even do better. Certainly I will do what I can to help make that happen.

If this thread flies and helps in any way analyze the WOT threats as well as natural disaster threats or any other plausible threats from 'reality' (whatever that is), then WONDERFUL. If it's just a good place to toss around the various puzzle pieces and their implications in a convoluted era and reality--that's worth some time, too.

If this thread dies and early death from disinterest, so be it.

If you have comments about the above, please post them! Hostile dereogatory posts will AT LEAST BE WHOLESALE IGNORED.

Below is some of the data on the recent quake and my comment on that.

-----------------------------------

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake IN SOUTHERN ALASKA has occurred at: 61.65N 151.25W Depth 81km Mon Jun 21 21:29:09 2004 UTC

Time: Universal Time (UTC) Mon Jun 21 21:29:09 2004 Time Near Epicenter Mon Jun 21 13:29:09 2004 Mountain Daylight Time (MDT) Mon Jun 21 15:29:09 2004

Location with respect to nearby cities: 85 km (55 miles) NW of Anchorage, Alaska (pop 260,000) 95 km (60 miles) SW of Talkeetna, Alaska (pop 700) 115 km (70 miles) W of Palmer, Alaska (pop 4,500) 1005 km (630 miles) WNW of JUNEAU, Alaska

I recall reading somewhere in the last month, a prediction that a very major devastating quake on the West Coast or the Pacific would occur shortly after a moderate quake in Alaska or just south of Alaska.

We shall see.

Personally, I'd vote for keeping Jihadi's out of quake shelters.

Making sense of God's word

By Karen Palmer
News Journal

MANSFIELD -- A book written across a span of 1,600 years by 40 different authors has intrigued people through the ages. The Bible, commonly regarded as the best-selling book of all time, is also one of the most challenging to read.

From word-for-word translations that stick close to original Hebrew and Greek to paraphrased versions that put Scripture in today's way of talking, the Bible offers the writings of people from all walks of life down through time -- inspired by God.

Reading the Bible to apply it to daily life requires faith and a plan, according to some area pastors. Getting to know God is at the heart of any Scripture study, they agreed.

"You have to have a relationship with God for the Bible to make sense," said the Rev. Curt Wagner of Hilltop Community Church. Spending time in prayer helps to center our thoughts on study, he said.

"It does require concentration to listen to God, and I think another thing, too, that is kind of a sidelight on all this is there is a spiritual warfare going on to try to keep us from reading God's word," Wagner said.

Committing to living the way Jesus did helps bring the Scriptures to life, said the Rev. Craig Hamm, pastor of evangelism and community life at Berean Baptist Church.

"Christian community helps when you're starting out," Hamm said. "The Bible tells about how those who are mature in the faith can help those who are just getting started."

Both pastors recommend the New International Version, a 1978 publication that balances word-for-word and thought-for-thought translation.

Wagner suggests keeping a couple things in mind for Bible study.

"One is find the right time. People need to be willing to budget and schedule some time to be alone with God," said the Mansfield pastor.

"I was just really challenged a couple months ago by a study that said all of the great spiritual giants from the past had their devotional times in the morning ... So I try to really do that in the morning. I find I'm too tired at the end of the day to do any serious encounter with God."

The "where" is important, too, Wagner said.

"A place undisturbed would be another thing that people would need to find, someplace away from the phone and a quiet place, a quiet time."

Hamm, 44, hosts a Bible study group in his home that's focusing on the book of James. At Berean, he's teaching a Sunday school class on Genesis.

"There's just a wealth of information that's out there today" for Bible study, Hamm said. "We like to use material from Campus Crusade for Christ, which is Bill Bright's organization."

He recommends "10 Basic Steps Toward Christian Maturity" which has a section on how to study the Bible.

"I certainly do recommend that you would find a Bible study group, maybe at the church you are attending or find out some of the groups that are meeting," Hamm said. "I would just encourage them to find one that's not a discussion group per se but one that actually goes verse by verse through the Scriptures."

When Wagner was studying at Dallas (Texas) Theological Seminary, he was challenged to get a new Bible periodically "because people who have had the same Bible have underlined and marked in the margins, and so they go back to the same things they've learned when they studied or read that passage before, instead of something new and fresh."

Wagner suggests writing down thoughts and perceptions that come to mind during Bible study.

"If you don't feel comfortable writing in the Bible, I would recommend people having a journal to write in."

In his own Bible study, Wagner prefers the New American Standard version. He draws lines to emphasize "structural kinds of things," underlines and writes in his Bible.

"I think that's good to do but every so often you need to get a whole new Bible," he said.

"I think you also need to have a plan of what you're going to study, not just wherever the Bible opens to that day," Wagner said. "There's all different kinds of plans you can use."

Wagner suggests starting with the Old Testament book of Proverbs because it has 31 chapters, one for every day of the month.

"Part of your plan ought to be reading through some of the books you never read through," Wagner said. "The Bible says that all Scripture is profitable for us to study."

Each time you start a new book of the Bible, have an overview of what it's about, do some study of who wrote it, who it was written to, along with a little bit of history at the time, Wagner suggested.

Hamm recommends beginning a Bible study with the New Testament book of John.

"John was a simple man. He wrote in a language that's generally easy to understand. He was very close to Jesus Christ," Hamm said.

"He was called the beloved disciple, and he wrote very directly to the needs of people and each person's need to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ."

Have a plan for your Scripture study, Hamm urged.

"Anyone who's serious about any type of a discipline, whether it be exercising or reading your Bible, needs to come up with a game plan or strategy to do that," he said.

"And if a person has not been reading the Scriptures, I would not recommend that they sit down and read them for an hour. I would recommend them to start out small, maybe for 15 minutes.

"It's not so important that you get through an entire chapter or section of Scripture as it is that you just take the time to meditate on what you read and try to understand the verses that you're looking at," Hamm said. "You can ask yourself some questions -- how does this apply to my life?

"Genuinely spend even 15 minutes a day, and don't worry about how much you read -- the quantity as much as the quality of time you spend," Hamm said.

"Are you understanding what you're reading? If you're not understanding, get a study Bible, call a pastor or find a Bible study that you could attend."

Search out the timeless principles that apply to life today, Wagner suggests.

"I encourage people don't go right to the (Bible) commentary," said the Hilltop pastor. "The goal is to try to discover truth on your own because that's where the real excitement comes, when God reveals his truth to you in a real specific way."

They are talking about the sun spots and the weather on Art Bell, Coast to Coast tonight...
Europeans cope with rain, cold and even snow

VIENNA -- Snowball fights in July. Mulled wine instead of wine coolers. Thermostats set on high. Spring has come and gone, fall approaches and Europeans from Oslo to Budapest are still waiting for summer weather. Much of Europe woke up to yet another day of chilly temperatures and rain yesterday, adding to weeks of miserable weather gripping the continent from Scandinavia to parts of the Balkans.

It's a big change from last summer, when a heat wave was blamed for the deaths of thousands. Except for southern Europe, this July has been wet and glacial so far.

On many days, temperatures have been half that of last year, when the mercury sat at 35 Celsius or higher for weeks.

Meteorologists say the comparison with last summer is misleading because 2003 was unusually hot and dry. "It's a little cooler than it should be, but it's not too bad," Vienna forecaster Ernst Rudel said of the last few weeks, describing the rains sweeping Austria this summer as "a little more precipitation than normal."

But the wacky weather has in some areas led to virtual winter in July.

Instead of hiking, tourists in Germany's Bavarian Alps have worked up a sweat with snowball fights and sleigh rides after heavy snowfalls dusted peaks and some valleys under 2,000 metres.

In central Germany's Thuringia forest, guests gathered for an open-air theatre performance clasped icy fingers around cups of mulled wine usually served at winter apres-ski parties.

Britons, whose summer weather has been the envy of no one over the years, have even less to be happy about than usual. The July cold snap prompted the British Gas company to put its winter emergency contingency plan into operation to meet a surge in demand for central heating.

Shrewsbury in northwest England had a temperature of 11.4 C on July 8 -- the coldest ever for the month. To the south, the town of Wittering, near Cambridge, absorbed 121.5 millimetres of rainfall between July 1 and 8 -- 2 1/2 times the monthly average.

The sun has shone a miserly three days so far in July in most of Britain. It was the same yesterday, St. Swithin's Day, when folklore says rain means another 40 days of downpours.

Elliot Frisby, a spokesperson for the VisitBritain tourism board, kept a stiff upper lip: "We don't sell Britain as a sun, sea and sand destination."

Rain also left Scandinavia gasping for relief. In Denmark, the average precipitation for June was 74 millimetres, a third above normal, while more rain fell last weekend in Sweden's Smaaland province than is normal for all of July.

Still, every cloud has a silver lining.

Angela Steinkellner, who runs an indoor pool and spa south of Vienna, said demand was up 40 per cent for the tanning machines.

I have no idea what a I am talking about but haveing a blast trying to figure it out...

Sunspots reaching 1,000-year high

By Dr David Whitehouse
BBC News Online science editor

Sunspots are plentiful nowadays
A new analysis shows that the Sun is more active now than it has been at anytime in the previous 1,000 years.
Scientists based at the Institute for Astronomy in Zurich used ice cores from Greenland to construct a picture of our star's activity in the past.

They say that over the last century the number of sunspots rose at the same time that the Earth's climate became steadily warmer.

This trend is being amplified by gases from fossil fuel burning, they argue.

'Little Ice Age'

Sunspots have been monitored on the Sun since 1610, shortly after the invention of the telescope. They provide the longest-running direct measurement of our star's activity.

The variation in sunspot numbers has revealed the Sun's 11-year cycle of activity as well as other, longer-term changes.

In particular, it has been noted that between about 1645 and 1715, few sunspots were seen on the Sun's surface.

This period is called the Maunder Minimum after the English astronomer who studied it.

Ice cores record climate trends back beyond human measurements
It coincided with a spell of prolonged cold weather often referred to as the "Little Ice Age". Solar scientists strongly suspect there is a link between the two events - but the exact mechanism remains elusive.

Over the past few thousand years there is evidence of earlier Maunder-like coolings in the Earth's climate - indicated by tree-ring measurements that show slow growth due to prolonged cold.

In an attempt to determine what happened to sunspots during these other cold periods, Dr Sami Solanki and colleagues have looked at concentrations of a form, or isotope, of beryllium in ice cores from Greenland.

The isotope is created by cosmic rays - high-energy particles from the depths of the galaxy.

The flux of cosmic rays reaching the Earth's surface is modulated by the strength of the solar wind, the charged particles that stream away from the Sun's surface.

And since the strength of the solar wind varies over the sunspot cycle, the amount of beryllium in the ice at a time in the past can therefore be used to infer the state of the Sun and, roughly, the number of sunspots.

Latest warming

Dr Solanki is presenting a paper on the reconstruction of past solar activity at Cool Stars, Stellar Systems And The Sun, a conference in Hamburg, Germany.

He says that the reconstruction shows the Maunder Minimum and the other minima that are known in the past thousand years.

But the most striking feature, he says, is that looking at the past 1,150 years the Sun has never been as active as it has been during the past 60 years.

Over the past few hundred years, there has been a steady increase in the numbers of sunspots, a trend that has accelerated in the past century, just at the time when the Earth has been getting warmer.

The data suggests that changing solar activity is influencing in some way the global climate causing the world to get warmer.

Over the past 20 years, however, the number of sunspots has remained roughly constant, yet the average temperature of the Earth has continued to increase.

This is put down to a human-produced greenhouse effect caused by the combustion of fossil fuels.

This latest analysis shows that the Sun has had a considerable indirect influence on the global climate in the past, causing the Earth to warm or chill, and that mankind is amplifying the Sun's latest attempt to warm the Earth.

Voyager 1, Prepare for Action

At the outer limits of our solar system, a solar shock wave is about to overtake NASA's Voyager 1 spacecraft.

When Voyager 1 signals NASA, which it does almost every day, there's usually not much to report. The spacecraft is nearly 9 billion miles (14.5 billion km) from the sun, at the edge of our solar system. It's quiet out there, dark and uneventful.

A solar blast wave is heading for the spacecraft, and "it could arrive at any moment," says Ed Stone, project scientist for the Voyager mission at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Remember the solar storms of October and November 2003? Giant sunspots unleashed some of the most powerful flares in recorded history; the explosions hurled billion-ton clouds of gas, called coronal mass ejections (CMEs), into the solar system. When the CMEs reached Earth, auroras appeared as far south as Florida, and our planet gained a new radiation belt that persisted for weeks.

Almost a year later, people are still talking about what happened. Well - the storm isn't over. Clouds spit out by the sun during those historic weeks have been traveling through the solar system ever since, and they're about to overtake Voyager 1.

Other spacecraft have already been hit.

On Oct. 28, 2003, a CME swept past Mars Odyssey, in Mars orbit. Intense radiation disabled one of the craft's science instruments, the Martian Radiation Environment Experiment (MARIE), designed, ironically, to study solar storms and space radiation. In the weeks that followed, CMEs buffeted Ulysses near Jupiter, and Cassini on its way to Saturn. Neither spaceship was harmed.

When one of the CMEs reached Saturn, Cassini detected bursty radio emissions signaling a magnetic storm around the ringed planet. Saturn (like Earth and Jupiter) has a global magnetic field that wraps around the planet, enveloping it in a protective bubble called the magnetosphere. When a CME hits, the magnetosphere reverberates ("a magnetic storm"); auroras appear; plasmas inside the magnetosphere begin to emit radio waves - but the planet itself is safe.

"The blast wave was powerful enough to spark a magnetic storm all the way out at Saturn, almost ten times farther from the sun than Earth. That's impressive," marvels Stone.

October. November. December. "The CMEs kept traveling outward," says Stone. January. February. March. "Some of the CMEs merged, the faster clouds having scooped up the slower ones." April. "The shock wave hit Voyager 2."

Voyager 1 and 2 are the most distant spacecraft in the solar system. They left Earth in the late 1970's, visited Jupiter and Saturn (Voyager 2 also went to Uranus and Neptune), then headed for the stars. Voyager 2 is now 7 billion miles from Earth, and Voyager 1 is almost 9 billion miles away.

Soon these spacecraft will reach the edge of the sun's magnetosphere, or "heliosphere," a vast magnetic bubble containing all nine planets. Outside the bubble lies interstellar space. Inside ... the Voyagers are still within range of solar storms.

The shock wave hit Voyager 2 traveling 600 km/s, or 1.3 million mph. (For comparison, CMEs left the sun last October going 1500 to 2000 km/s, "so there has been substantial deceleration," notes Stone.) The physical force was slight, less than the touch of a feather--the spacecraft didn't go tumbling. Neither did radiation cause problems. The storm had diffused over such a great volume by the time it reached Voyager 2, that "no damage was done," says Stone.

In fact, the encounter was good. Voyager 2 measured (indirectly) the speed of the shock, as well as its composition, temperature and magnetism. These data are invaluable, says Stone. Combined with measurements from Mars Odyssey, Ulysses, Cassini and other spacecraft, they show how far-ranging CMEs evolve and dissipate. One day human astronauts will be "out there," and mission planners need to know what to expect.

All that remains is Voyager 1.

Based on the velocity of the blast wave when it hit Voyager 2, "we expected the shock to reach Voyager 1 on June 26th," says Stone. " We're still waiting." It's possible the wave, irregular in structure, will simply miss Voyager 1.

But it won't miss the edge of the heliosphere--it can't. When the shock wave gets there, Stone says, there might be a 2 to 3 kHz radio burst signaling the impact, akin to the radio emissions Cassini detected when the wave hit Saturn's magnetic field, but at much lower frequencies. Voyager 1 has a receiver on board that can record such bursts and report them to Earth.

That's not all: the blast wave will push the edge of the heliosphere outward as much as 600 million km, Stone believes, and then there will be a rebound. For months the outer layer of the sun's magnetic bubble might slowly sweep back and forth over Voyager 1.

For Stone and his colleagues, who've have been waiting decades for Voyager 1 to reach the outer limits of the solar system, this is an exciting time. Solar shock waves. Radio bursts. The heliosphere itself bulging and rebounding.

It's not so uneventful out there, after all.

FOLLOWING IS AN OUT OF PLACE DISCUSSION PROVOKED IN ANOTHER THREAD. This is the sort of thing this thread was created for. So, here it is:

---------------------

Qx: ***No way would God have allowed any hint of anything remotely close to being even pointed in the direction of divination to come anywhere close to the Bible Codes. ***

DrS: Thus sayeth Pope Quix.

QX: Perhaps some of you are not aware. I have always wondered by God put the geneologies in Chronicles. Somewhere along in my Bible Code readings, I came upon the reason though it has no direct relationship to the Codes.

Qx: When one takes the root meanings of the names of the patriarchs in the geneologies in Chronicles, IN ORDER, the result is a basic outline, a basic summary of THE GOSPEL STORY.

Qx: Now, following consistently along the attitudes and reasonsings expressed on this thread about the Codes, such folk as express such attitudes and ill-informed conclusions must be LOGICALLY, AND PHILOSOPHICALLY consistent and construe that it was satan who arranged those Patriarchal names that way.

Qx: WHAT NONSENSE! 'Tis Sacred Scripture, group! HOLY SPIRIT BREATHED! PROTECTED THROUGH THE AGES BY HOLY SPIRIT! No other explanation remotely fits. No other explanation is logical. No other explanation is possible. God not only does not play dice with the universe, HE DID NOT PLAY DICE WITH THE WRITING OF HIS HOLY WRITTEN WORD, EITHER. He ordered the placement of every letter. And He did NOT allow satan any part, much less to play dice with the writing of The Holy written Word of God, either.

Anything else would have indicated a very impotent God or a very confused God. Our Almighty God is neither!

DrS: Thus sayeth Pope Quix.

Hardly. Am merely a very mangled whisper of a voice mumbling in the desert.

DrS: BTW, claimming the Holy Spirit is behind the Bible Codes is mighty risky business too.

HOLY SCRIPTURE INDICATES OTHERWISE:
. . .
1 John 4:2
Hereby know you the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
. . .
The Codes clearly do that as they do all the basic doctrines of The Faith.

It could NOT be OTHERWISE--SCRIPTURE IS GOD-BREATHED, HOLY SPIRIT BREATHED. Not only is every word Holy Spirit Breathed, every letter, as well. It should be as no surprise that Holy Spirit lifts up Jesus The Christ at every level, dimension, point of analysis of Holy Scripture whether one considers the straightforward surface text, the root meanings of Patriarchal names or the holographic dimensional meanings just beginning to be discovered and explored in a diversity of TYPES of Codes INHERENTLY EMBEDDED in the Holy Spirit Breathed letter order of the Holy Written Word.

I'll present an analogy that came to mind in a following post.

One may be unaware of the latest scientific comparison of WAR IN PEACE in Hebrew with the Old Testament in Hebrew. One may not have thought through the implications of what it means for Scripture to be God-breathed at every level and aspect. One may not have studied anything very deeply about the Codes.

But one should still have the capacity to be cautious about ascribing to Holy Spirit things of satan--especially when it's clearly, obviously and abundantly NOT TRUE--on the basis of simple logic, among other evidence.

An analogy:

IMAGINE that on Mt Sinai, God gave Moses a holographic 24 inch cube of clear futuristic plastic or gold as clear as glass or some such.

Imagine that the TEN COMMANDMENTS were written in annotated form on the faces of the cube in a way that was easily visible in direct sunlight or in the Holy of Holies.

Imagine that a few microns in from the outer surface, at a particular place in the Holy of Holies, another layer of Holy Text appeared--say some of the favorite Psalms David would write in the future.

And, on down into the cube layer by layer one could read from different positions in the Holy of Holies if one were the Chief Priest at that time of year.

One of the layers close to the center has the essence of the Gospels including the Sermon on The Mount.

And the center most scribed layer--say a cube 3 inches on a side--has the victorious finale that would be written by John The Beloved in Revelation.

And, That the phenomena were multidimensional in a cross-word fashion in that some Scriptures were verticle as it were, with a letter from each layer down into the cube and back up again like verticle Chinese writing--Perhaps Proverbs, say.

Such a cube would be a fair analogy of The Bible Codes. What a fun thing to illustrate God's Timeless perspective, His timeless Glory, His Omniscience, His Majesty! What a joke on the materialstic denyers of the supernatural realm!

DrS: DrS: Thus sayeth Pope Quix.

BTW, I think an honest review would reveal that haughty dismissiveness began on your side of the discussion.

But on this thread, we really prefer and insist on a different tone. Let us all apply ourselves earnestly to that more charitable standard.

The Sun Goes Haywire

The Sun Goes Haywire

Using data archived by NOAA's Space Environment Center, Francis Reddy created this plot of sunspot number and X-class solar flares during the last three solar cycles.

Huntsville AL (SPX) Jul 12, 2004
November 12, 2003: Imagine you're in California. It's July, the middle of summer. The sun rises early; bright rays warm the ground. It's a great day to be outside. Then, suddenly, it begins to snow - not just a little flurry, but a swirling blizzard that doesn't stop for two weeks.

That's what forecasters call unseasonal weather.

It sounds incredible, but "something like that just happened on the sun," says David Hathaway, a solar physicist at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center.

Only a few weeks ago solar activity was low. The face of the sun was nearly blank - "very few sunspots," says Hathaway - and space weather near Earth was mild.

"Mild is just what we expect at this point in the 11-year solar cycle," he explains.

"The most recent maximum was in 2001, and solar activity has been declining ever since."

Then, suddenly, in late October the sun began to behave strangely. Three giant sunspots appeared, each one larger than the planet Jupiter.

In California where smoke from wildfires dimmed the sun enough to look straight at it, casual sky watchers were startled by the huge blotches on the sun. One of them, named "sunspot 486," was the biggest in 13 years.

Sunspots cause solar flares and, usually, the biggest flares come from the biggest spots. The three giant sunspots unleashed eleven X-class flares in only fourteen days - equaling the total number observed during the previous twelve months. "This was a big surprise," says Hathaway.

The effects on Earth were many: Radio blackouts disrupted communications. Solar protons penetrated Earth's upper atmosphere, exposing astronauts and some air travelers to radiation doses equal to a medical chest X-ray.

Auroras appeared all over the world - in Florida, Texas, Australia and many other places where they are seldom seen.

Researchers rank solar flares according to their x-ray power output. C-flares are the weakest. M-flares are middling-strong. X-flares are the most powerful.

Each category has subdivisions: e.g., X1, X2, X3 and so on. A typical X-flare registers X1 or X2. On Nov. 4th, sunspot 486 unleashed an X28 flare- the most powerful ever recorded.

"In 1989 a flare about half that strong caused a widespread power blackout in Quebec," recalls Hathaway. Last week's blast was aimed away from Earth, so its effects on our planet were slight - a bit of good luck.

All this happened two years after solar maximum, which raises a question: is something wrong with the solar cycle? Is the sun going haywire?

"Nothing's wrong," reassures Hathaway. The sun isn't about to explode, nor is the sunspot cycle broken.

"These latest sunspots were whoppers," he allows, "but sunspot counts averaged over many weeks are still declining as predicted. We're still on course for a solar minimum in 2006."

Indeed, it's possible that what we've just experienced is a normal part of the solar cycle, speculates Hathaway.

"There's a curious tendency for the biggest flares to occur after solar maximum - on the downslope toward solar minimum. This has happened during two of the last three solar cycles." The plot below illustrates his point.

You DA MAN, Quix. I don't know much about the "Bible Codes" but I started to read a book that was on the NYT Bestseller list (that should have warned me) and I got halfway through it before I smelled smoke straight from the pit of Hell and threw it away like the trash it is. Now, I have yet to read anything on the Bible Codes by any respected scholars of eschatology that I TRUST and know are true Christians. One of these, Hal Lindsey, has one out, but I haven't gotten it yet. Too busy and too deep into the "Left Behind" series! Anyway, I agree you you brother. I really dislike folks who shoot personal flames like this DrS (POPE QUIX INDEED!).

To: ExSoldier; All

THANKS for your kind words.

I really don't think the Codes are meant to be a big deal compared to a lot of other Scriptural priorities.

However, they have resulted in some Jewish Hebrew scholars becoming believers in their Messiah. In that sense, they ARE a big deal! All the angels rejoice!

The Drosnin books are hokey from a number of perspectives. One, ?most? of the 'codes' in them do not pass the current criteria for statistically valid Codes. They are just too short.

I believe that eventually, some of the shorter Codes which are not statistically significant but which are in very connected relationships with other Codes--some longer and maybe all of them have keywords related to the central Scripture which a central keyword in the central Code in the matrix crosses. A bit hard to articulate. But I don't believe there's ANY WAY, such could occur just by chance. Nevertheless, we don't have a good way--or didn't last I checked--to assess some of the Code configurations statistically.

Statistically significant codes now have to number above 30 letters, as best as I can recall. Lower than that but of a different quality could be found in WAR AND PEACE.

The Bible Codes Digest FAQ link is:

http://www.biblecodedigest.com/page.php/8

It's an excellent set of short summary statements to the typical questions and criticisms.

The following doc discusses Codes in the Bible vs in any book:

The following link is to a page of links including several of the excellent, well known Jewish Scholars involved with the Bible Codes.

http://www.biblecodedigest.com/page.php/26

The following link it to a

"BOTTOM LINE" set of summaries about the Codes.

The following link is to a list of links to the major codes. It includes links to the 911 codes, Iraq codes, Isaiah codes, Ezekiel codes etc.

Note: Many codes are as cryptic and mystifying as some Scripture surface text prophecies--until after the event happens when the wording makes much more sense.

Blessings,

It would appear, that

that request was too much of a stretch.

Perhaps it can grow on you.

I actually think Drosnin was commissioned from hell--perhaps unwittingly--to sabotage any benefit he could from the Bible Codes.

He certainly doesn't believe in The God of The Bible.

I tend to agree about Drosnin. Have you heard anything about Hal Lindsey? He does a lot of End Times stuff, one of his first was called: Late Great Planet Earth. That was one of the first books I read after first coming to Christ.

Daniel 7

At this point the book of Daniel ceases to be in chronological order.

Another point I would like to make is in Daniel 2. Daniel's eye traveled down the image. The strength of the metals progressed from soft (gold) to a very hard (iron). This is a prophetic picture of the military strength of nations that would develop in the future. Also note that the strength of the iron kingdom seems to become diluted over time.
The ten toes, or empires, will be some sort of European federation.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Any ideas?

Daniel 7 1-8
4 "The first was like a lion and had the wings of an eagle. I kept looking until its wings were plucked, and it was lifted up from the ground and made to stand on two feet like a man; a human mind also was given to it.

!!!!!!!!!!1st= Lion=Babylon=gold head=Nebuchadnezzar=ruled 87 years

5 "And behold, another beast, a second one, resembling a bear. And it was raised up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth; and thus they said to it, 'Arise, devour much meat!'

!!!!!!!!!!2nd=Bear=Medo-Persia=silver breast=4 Persia Kings=ruled208 years

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Note: The three ribs are conquests of Lydia in 546B.C., Babylon in 539B.C., and Egypt in 525B.C.

6 "After this I kept looking, and behold, another one, like a leopard, which had on its back four wings of a bird; the beast also had four heads, and dominion was given to it.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!3rd=Leopard=Greece=bronze belly=Alexander the Great=268 years

7 "After this I kept looking in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrifying and extremely strong; and it had large iron teeth. It devoured and crushed and trampled down the remainder with its feet; and it was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!4th=Roman Empire=legs and thighs of iron=63bc-476ad=539 years

!!!!!!!!!!!!!Note: The Roman Empire was the final form of Gentile power on earth. Rome controlled central Italy by 338 B.C., and the Empire gradually expanded. Pompey the Roman general, Conquered the Holy Land in 63 B.C. Rome ruled Palestine with an iron fist during the time of Christ and afterward. In A.D. 70, the Roman general Vespasian ordered his son, Titus, to destroy Jerusalem. The temple was demolished. Just as Jesus had predicted it would be.
In A.D. 284, Diocletian separated the Eastern Empire from the West and appointed Maximian to rule the eastern realm. A succession of rulers struggled for control over the years, and in A.D. 476, the last Roman emperor, Romulus Augustus, was dethroned. Notice, however, that the Roman Empire was never conquered-it simply fell apart from struggles rising from within. It fell into separate kingdoms, but the spirit of Rome-Europe-is alive and well today. But the thing to pay attentions to is the Little Horn.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!Note: 30 a.d. Jesus Christ death.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!Gap of time this is where we are now in history.

8 "While I was contemplating the horns, behold, another horn, a little one, came up among them, and three of the first horns were pulled out by the roots before it; and behold, this horn possessed eyes like the eyes of a man and a mouth uttering great boasts.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Ten Horns-Three horns pulled out by the One Small Horn=feet and toes of iron and clay=????

v.9-10 And the Ancient of Days took his seat. And the books were open.

v.11-12 The beast was slain, and its body was destroyed and given to the burning fire. The rest of the beast, their dominion was taken, but an extension of life was granted to them for an appointed of time.

v.13-14 Son of Man came to the Ancient of Days. He was given dominion, Glory and a kingdom, an everlasting dominion Which will not pass away.

v. 15-16 Daniel's spirit was distressed. He approached one who was standing by and ask the meaning of the vision.

The Vision Interpreted

17 'These great beasts, which are four in number, are four kings who will arise from the earth.
18 'But the saints of the Highest One will receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom forever, for all ages to come.'

The Four Beast
v.19-28 23 "Thus he said: 'The fourth beast will be a fourth kingdom on the earth, which will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth and tread it down and crush it.
24 'As for the ten horns, out of this kingdom ten kings will arise; and another will arise after them, and he will be different from the previous ones and will subdue three kings.
25 'He will speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One, and

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Note: Tribulation will began.

he will intend to make alterations in times and in law; and they will be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Note End of tribulation.

26 'But the court will sit for judgment, and his dominion will be taken away, annihilated and destroyed forever.
27 'Then the sovereignty, the dominion and the greatness of all the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be given to the people of the saints of the Highest One; His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all the dominions will serve and obey Him.'
28 "At this point the revelation ended. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts were greatly alarming me and my face grew pale, but I kept the matter to myself."

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Questions:
Why do you think Daniel keep this to himself?

What have we learned from Daniel 7 about the little horn?

Going back to chapter 2 what does the stone represent?

What will the little horn do to some of the other horns?

Please feel free to add to and or correct:)

PM urges All French Jews to move to Israel

By Agence France Presse (AFP)

Monday, July 19, 2004

JERUSALEM: Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon called Sunday on all Jews living in France to leave and move to Israel "immediately" after a rise in anti-Semitism.

"Altogether I have to advocate to our brothers in France: Move to Israel as early as possible," Sharon told a meeting of an American Jewish association in Jerusalem.

"That's what I say to Jews all around the world, but there, (France) I think, it's a must. They have to move immediately." Sharon praised the French government for taking action against the "spread of the wildest anti-Semitism" but said that it was struggling against the impact of the growth of the Muslim community.

France is home to Europe's biggest Jewish and Muslim communities, estimated at 600,000 and 5 million respectively.

According to French Interior Ministry statistics, the number of racist incidents has soared this year.
