Why do you call Me "Lord, Lord," and not do the things which I say? —Luke 6:46

Fill up each hour with what will last;
Buy up the moments as they go;
The life above, when this is past,
Is the ripe fruit of life below

To show that you value eternity, make good use of your time.

Value Test

Read: Luke 6:46-49

Why do you call Me "Lord, Lord," and not do the things which I say? —Luke 6:46

Bible In One Year: 2 Chronicles 28-29; John 17

Robert Ginnett, a researcher at the Center for Creative Leadership in Colorado Springs, has found that the values we claim to have are not as closely linked to our actual behavior as we might like to believe.

One business executive, who said his 5-year-old daughter was the most important part of his life, realized that he usually went to work before she got up in the morning and often returned home after she was in bed at night. So to spend time with her, he took her to work with him one Saturday. After looking around his office, she asked, "Daddy, is this where you live?" He may have acknowledged that his daughter was important, but his behavior revealed what he truly valued.

In our relationship with Christ, He asks for our obedience, not a warm feeling or a statement of belief. He asked those following Him, "Why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say?" (Luke 6:46). Jesus illustrated His point with the parable of the wise and foolish builders (vv.47-49). The rock-solid foundation of the wise builder's house illustrates the result of our obedience to God. This honors Christ and enables us to withstand the storms of life.

What we do, more than anything we say, reveals what we truly value the most. —David McCasland

Fill up each hour with what will last;
Buy up the moments as they go;
The life above, when this is past,
Is the ripe fruit of life below. —Bonar

To show that you value eternity, make good use of your time.

Good Morning, everyone.

Fifteen years ago, it was 6/7/89, and later in the morning, it was 10:11, and 12 seconds, of course.

Do you know what it means? ... Nothing, actually...

Sounds like the story of my life.

Hello fellow Amy'sPlacers. Pardon me. I'm very down at the moment (warning: tailspin ahead), and not just because of the Reagan death. So if I snap at anyone, it's not personal, and I apologise in advance.

I'm just at the end of my rope... and would rather be swinging from that rope, suspended by my neck.

Hope you all have a better day than I did...

Nahhh ... you wouldn't. That solves nothing. Find a comedy to watch on the telly; something silly that will make you laugh.

I hope your Tuesday is terrific.

Nothing, actually...

Hey, that was the point!! We attach a lot of importance to numbers, and they don't really mean anything.

If you examine it, you'll find that you have more ordinary, average days than any other kind. It takes a leap of understanding to realize those are the happy ones!!

And then we remember the misery, just like the alphabet news reports it ... as if that were the thing to remember.

Those miserable days are actually few in number, and vastly outweighed by the good days. Try counting this way ... I'm looking to accumulate one million days of perfect weather. Surely you remember quite a few -- Do you realize how many a million would be, even if you accept a little rain sometimes?

Anyway ....

Ronald Reagan

Intrepid, he was, and jolly,
Observing, and astute.
The secret of his nature,
Was contentment at the root.

Of course, it wasn’t easy,
He had a real rough patch,
He learned to deal with basic things,
Before his dreams could hatch.

He learned to stand up like a man,
However grim the place.
He looked at every bit of life,
A smile upon his face.

He learned the secret early,
The joy there is to see,
Happy happens only if,
You just decide to be.

He started saving lives back then,
He was a strapping lad.
He kept a count inside his head,
His goal? A myriad.

And I would say he reached it,
Reached it, and surpassed.
For who knew then his fragile peace,
Could be the one to last?

Clearly, he could see it,
Of many things foreseen.
The shining lights upon the hill,
He’d glimpsed as just a teen.

His steady course of progress,
Rising as he went,
We only understand it now,
That he is Heaven-sent.

Having a pretty good day so far, actually.
Got knocked offline for a few days because teh main machine of the network went down.
Finally got it back up last night and posted a bit, but didn't venture far onto threads until this morning.

Thanks, Amy!

His picture is a poem, all by itself.

Life, and what is in us, writes character in our faces.
What a beautiful face. What a magnificent man.
