-- the intermittent "fluttering" low notes that sound almost like they don't belong there are a classic signature of a bagpipe tune, I think. Is that right? Well, I'm having troubles finding the other one.

Oh, that's OK -- "Dear Old Donegal" sounds very nice on the bagpipe, but if you found it anywhere on the internet it would probably be an Irish folk singer singing it.
On the "Farewell To The Creeks" tune you posted, I forgot to point out the most obvious sign that the MIDI was made from a bagpipe tune. If you listen to it, you'll notice that while the tune is playing, there is a constant, steady note in the background that plays through the whole song. This is what gives the bagpipe its distinct sound -- the "droning" sound that emanates from the three pipes while the main tune is played by the piper.
Also, the MIDI sounds choppy from around the 0:25 mark to the 0:40 mark -- the piper is playing these notes in rapid succession, and the MIDI music format may not be able to "keep up" with him properly.
You have to be from a town of Scottish immigrants to know that kind of stuff. LOL!

That's the kind of problem I encountered whenever I listened to Midis, that's why I prefer Real Audio.

I didn't know that this was a common problem with MIDIS. I do know that you prefer the Real tunes, though -- if you ever post a MIDI, it's because you've scoured the 'net for a Real tune and couldn't find one!

That's right, I only look at midis when I can't find real audio or wavs. Well, it's better than nothing. :-)

Yep. LOL.
Here's something interesting . . . I always thought "Farewell To The Creeks" was an Irish tune, but it was actually written by a soldier from Scotland in the British Army in World War I. The song refers to the creeks and inlets along the coast of Scotland in the region of Banff-Portsoy where he had lived as a child, and was written upon his return to Scotland after he had been a prisoner during the war.
