Healthcare is the single biggest issue affecting voters this election cycle. Understandably, the crown jewel of political debate during the campaigns is the aspect of the ACA that protects consumers from limitations associated with pre-existing conditions.
The ACA, or Obamacare, provided for those in the individual markets to have the same benefits of those participating in group insurance without fear of their past medical history preventing them from participating. The multiple attempts to repeal or change this hotly debated law has caused the issue of pre-existing condition repeal to come to the forefront of the discussions related to healthcare.

How do these people “become” obese, i am asking to understand your point of view...
Essentially they eat more than their body can use and left to it’s own it becomes debilitating. My Niece had a relative by marriage who followed this path and eventually she fell down and could not get up and suffocated. Her family did nothing of any consequence to lower her intake, the issue may have been emotionally driven in part but never the less she is gone now
So if someone is on this track what would YOU suggest that can be done to stop this before it becomes such a critical self fulfilling prophecy and the risk and cost of treating this increases daily?
I await your insights...
paying for pre-existing conditions is not insurance.
it is welfare.
if people want this kind of welfare, at least they could be honest enough to say so, and not pretend they’re just asking for ‘insurance’
insurance covers future risks, not past facts!
Ok misread what you wrote.
My wife and I currently pay $1540 for both us per month for a $7000 deductible each policy. We are in our late 50’s.
We looked at what the premiums will be when we are 62-64.
$2600-2800 per month for both of us. Insane. We can afford it but most can’t.
And I cannot afford to pay for you. I've got my own problems (but I don't whine about them here on FR).
Seek charity.

It’s not just a matter of taking in more than you use. It’s really a complicated equation, and what you eat has effects on metabolism and what your body does with the intake. When fueled properly the human body is very good at managing its intake via appetite. But we are being told to eat the wrong things and it is wrecking havoc with our systems and causing widespread disease.
I was reading your post and thought the words used may trip people up, I agree but lets try this
If you are insured and shift carriers while you are under a doctors care from the first then the condition you seek to have covered is known as well as treatment
If you are not insured nor under a doctors care and you get insurance and something is discovered along the way then it falls to the provider as to coverage
It would seem that if you have a condition that was covered and is no longer you could be covered but the cost of coverage should be higher as depending on the issue it may be very expensive to treat based on others with it and other factors. This is similar to Auto Insurance and your driving record reflects the risk to the carrier of insuring you and your behavior. If you switch carriers then your track records determines the risk they have of spending money and you pay more. As time goes on your record improves your rates may go down.
Not an exact model but I am trying to set the table in a way that we have common definitions as to what a “Pre Existing” condition really means, as diagnosed and treated by a doctor and one that could exist but has not yet exposed itself.
Discuss...
How do you force taxpayers to pay for school, war, or the Department of Agriculture?
I think the US government should just allow people to live or die without a care in the world for them. Since this is never going to happen, why not just pay for free College for those who become Doctors of all stripes, with the repaying coming in the form of living on a government stipend for 15 years working in government health care centers? Make sure that Senators and Congressmen get the same treatment.
Is that policy through Obamacare? Is the insurance company subsidizing those who do “as needed” enrollment?
Coverage for pre-existing conditions and up to 26 year old being on their parents insurances are the two things I support in the ACA.
Used to be if you had one insurance, and you wanted to switch to another, you would not be covered for the pre-existing condition for 6 months or 1 year depending on the company you were switching to. Or if you are employed somewhere and want to add your spouse on the insurance (you typically pay extra to cover spouse) if your spouse had a pre-existing condition it would not be covered for a period of time.
Just because somebody doesn't agree with you doesn't give you the right to call them names. Don't be like the democrats.
Good ideas.
As generally used, a condition you had prior to your current attempt to get insurance, whether treated or not. I was, for example, turned down because I took more than one kind of blood pressure medication.
So I can have the wreck and wait for “open enrollment?”
Cool!
You F’ing idiot.
It’s still not insurance.
You do understand the mathematics behind actual insurance, right?
Just because you call it “insurance” doesn’t make it insurance.
More like indemnification. Note the “dem”.
These simple changes would go a long way.
The Alliance Health Plans that were allowed would boom if natural groups (any group formed not to purchase insurance) a Credit Union, your Church, all the Churches etc in your town as a group member would be allowed to join, and with you tax free dollars, purchase a group plan throught them, as noted above would darn near cure all this madness IMHO...
Make it contingent on continuous coverage. Done.
Nationalize the hospitals, employ the consultants, private practice with a fee schedule for GPs.
It is electoral suicide for any politician who supports eliminating insurance coverage of pre-existing conditions.
...
You’re right, and that’s why President Trump said he’s not going to change it.
It cost nothing, but was extremely effective in promoting health, happiness, and the general welfare.
Anyone want to take a guess?
Sorry, that may have been somehow misdirected to you, it was addressed to Ikeon and cc to you.
no beef, a misunderstanding, but eat a steak w/ you anytime
