paying for pre-existing conditions is not insurance.
it is welfare.

if people want this kind of welfare, at least they could be honest enough to say so, and not pretend they’re just asking for ‘insurance’

insurance covers future risks, not past facts!

I was reading your post and thought the words used may trip people up, I agree but lets try this

If you are insured and shift carriers while you are under a doctors care from the first then the condition you seek to have covered is known as well as treatment

If you are not insured nor under a doctors care and you get insurance and something is discovered along the way then it falls to the provider as to coverage

It would seem that if you have a condition that was covered and is no longer you could be covered but the cost of coverage should be higher as depending on the issue it may be very expensive to treat based on others with it and other factors. This is similar to Auto Insurance and your driving record reflects the risk to the carrier of insuring you and your behavior. If you switch carriers then your track records determines the risk they have of spending money and you pay more. As time goes on your record improves your rates may go down.

Not an exact model but I am trying to set the table in a way that we have common definitions as to what a “Pre Existing” condition really means, as diagnosed and treated by a doctor and one that could exist but has not yet exposed itself.

Discuss...
