Team Trump Preparing “Political Punch to the Face” Against Cruz Campaign?
Team Trump Preparing “Political Punch to the Face” Against Cruz Campaign? ^ | April 10, 2016 | DC Whispers

Posted on 04/10/2016 10:52:56 AM PDT by Art in Idaho

Will these whispers turn to shouts?

The word behind the word is that Paul Manafort is already earning his keep BIG TIME as he moves to deliver a stunning blow to the Cruz campaign a source describes as a potential “punch to the face” that involves the number 172.

Here is a brief summary of what will simply be called the “172 Plan” :

**Talks are ongoing and more numerous between Team Trump and a second party over the last 48-hours.

**If these talks lead to an agreement, it will be a game-changer in the 2016 Republican nomination process.

**Manafort is said to be personally leading the negotiations with Donald Trump’s full approval. In fact, it’s believed Manafort was the first to suggest this scenario last month but did so then more as an observer of the campaign. Now he is a top-ranking operative/adviser for Team Trump.

**This ongoing negotiation has sent the Cruz campaign scrambling to block further negotiation from materializing and getting a considerable assist from powerful GOP forces.

Disclaimer: My speculation only. Ran into this: Marco Rubio's unprecedented plan to stop Donald Trump: Keep his delegates

From the article: "In an unprecedented move, Marco Rubio has asked party leaders of 21 states and territories not to release the 172 delegates the Republican won during his now-defunct presidential campaign."

So, is Manafort talking with Rubio about VP?

without 1237, I can’t imagine trump would go into Cleveland without a deal, too risky otherwise......

I think you’re the first to post an article about the “172 Plan” ;-)

What’s a “political punch to the face?”

Who gets to define that?

Maybe it’s actually a “political knee in the groin.”
Or how about a “political kick in the gut.”
Or a “political shot in the head.”

What do any of those mean? Nothing. Nonsense.

I hope NOT!

I’d actually prefer Ohio in November and its governor with his 143 delegates.

I doubt it is Rubio. I would guess someone like McConnell or Dole or some establishment insider. I suspect this is hype that serves to gather media for a less than stellar endorsement, trying to manufacture more excitement than it deserves. Plus it is Bankrupt Trump’s way to gain free media. He does it all the time.

It would be smart if he was.

Here is the deal though. Why would Rubio do it? Pretty much anyone on the ticket with Trump get's one shot, win or out. Rubio is too young to put it all on the line, unless he were to have the blessings of the GOPe for insurance.

I am about a millimeter close to refusing to vote for Trump in November, so his team of punks had better watch themselves. If Trump has something to say, he should have the courage to face Ted one-on-one in a debate and say it.

It won’t be Rubio if Trump sticks to his word of wanting an experienced insider to deal with Congress.

I fervently hope that RINO squish Kasich is not the VP, but I predicted that he would be Trump’s guy months ago.

Kind of disgusting for them to make a pro-hitler ad like this.

Obviously, when there's talk of a '172 plan,' the logical inference is that it has to do with Rubio as he has 172 delegates. It's highly likely that those 172 would be enough to get Trump to 1,237. And it's true that Rubio (1) hasn't endorsed Cruz; and (2) could certainly use the VP gig as he'll be out of work in January 2017.

The problem is that it's hard to imagine Rubio swallowing his pride and accepting an offer from Trump after everything that happened between the two in the weeks leading up to Florida. After all of the 'little Marco' stuff, all the bad blood... Rubio would essentially establish himself as someone with zero self-respect if here were to subordinate himself to Trump. Now, some may argue that Ben Carson set a precedent for this, but (1) Ben Carson is not a politician who necessarily has to concern himself with future viability; and (2) Carson for unknown reasons never seemed to take personally Trump's 'pathological' jabs.

After this?? LOL!!!

Colorado where the official @cologop actually tweets out; “We did it! #nevertrump”. It was their actual mission.

#nevertrump is more than a simple political statment - it’s a mission statement. And it was executed by the Colorado GOP as a mission statement. That is not we-the people.

Because doing it 15 times in a row just wasn't good enough.
