Blogger admits Hawaii birth certificate forgery, subverting Obama claims (Uh-oh)
Israel Insider ^ | 3 July 2008 | Reuven Koret

Posted on 07/03/2008 4:35:19 PM PDT by SE Mom

Jay McKinnon, a self-described Department of Homeland Security-trained document specialist, has implicated himself in the production of fraudulent Hawaii birth certificate images similar to the one endorsed as genuine by the Barack Obama campaign, and appearing on the same blog entry where the supposedly authentic document appears.

The evidence of forgery and manipulation of images of official documents, triggered by Israel Insider's revelation of the collection of Hawaii birth certificate images on the Photobucket site and the detective work of independent investigative journalists and imaging professionals in the three weeks since the publication of the images, implicate the Daily Kos, an extreme left blog site, and the Obama campaign, in misleading the public with official-looking but manipulated document images of doubtful provenance.

The perceived unreliability of the image has provoked petitions and widespread demands for Obama to submit for objective inspection the paper versions of the "birth certificate" he claimed in his book Dreams from My Father was in his possession, as well as the paper version of the Certificate of Live Birth for which the image on the Daily Kos and the Obama "Fight the Smears" website was supposedly generated.

Without a valid birth certificate, Obama cannot prove he fulfills the "natural born citizen" requirement of the Constitution, throwing into doubt his eligibility to run for President.

McKinnon, who says he is 25-30 years old, operates a website called OpenDNA.com and uses the OpenDNA screen name on various web sites and blogs, including his comments and diary on The Daily Kos. In recent years he has divided his time between Long Beach, California and Vancouver, British Columbia. He is a Democratic political activist, frequent contributor to the left wing Daily Kos blog, and a fervent Barack Obama supporter.

I think it is worthwhile to put the information up here (and incidentally, AlbertaChild did the work and ought to get the credit):

"I was thinking about the possibility of a Kenyan birth certificate so I tried to find out where in Kenya this would be found. I came across this book:

http://books.google.ca/books?id=oHR7IeMcayYC&pg=PA442&lpg=PA439&ots=3zDW_oqCeW&dq=Kenya+Birth+Records&sig=ACfU3U309m_2j4LAreI69bvy4GRMwgenDg#PPA439,M1

It gives this address: Principal Civil Registar, P.O. Box 30031, Nairobi, Kenya Tel: (011)(254)(2)7461 It also says that “Kenya is divided into districts and it is in the District Registry where the original birth and death certificates are kept. Duplicates are sent to the Central Registry. Cost of a birth certificate is Ksh 10.00.

Obama Sr.’s town is the Kisii District and the capital is Kisii Town.

It also says “The Family History Library of Salt Lake City, Utah has microfilmed records of Kenya and africa. For further details on their holdings please consult your nearest family History Center.”

On the same page as this information ther is a link to a site Birth.GovtRegistry.com. I tried it and put in the name Barry Dunham with Obama’s birthdate and the state of HI and they came back with one match. However this is a site you have to pay for so I couldn’t find out what they had.

I didn't identify the Family History Center as a Mormon entity. If it in fact is, I believe we can penetrate it.

I don't think the search should be limited to the Kisii district either. The Madsen Report Update says his birth records were in Mombasa which is on the South East Coast of Kenya.

We could indulge in all sorts of speculation--Mombasa is on a connection of the overseas leg of BOA to Vancouver BC; she went there when she couldn't get on the airplane to go back to the US--maybe a better medical facility than the bush.

Browardchad has exaggerated how little is available regarding Kenya: http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=localitydetails&subject=274&subject_disp=Kenya&columns=*,0,0

That said, s/he is correct that there appear to be no microfiche records of Kenyan births listed. The closest thing appears to be this book:

A guide to the Kenya National Archives : to the microfilms of the provincial and district annual reports, record books, and handing-over reports, miscellaneous correspondence, and intelligence reports Gregory, Robert G.
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=topicdetails&subject=533383&subject_disp=Kenya+-+Archives+and+libraries&columns=*,0,0

So perhaps AlbertaChild was given incorrect information by someone who confused this book with the microfilms themselves etc.

Thanks for looking at it. Even if it turns out the microfiche is not available in Salt Lake City, there are copies of the British Colonial records in other locations, presumably as well as in London. And original records may still be available in Kenya.

You are dealing with an opponent with significant resources and support on the ground with the capacity to scrub inconvenient records however my experience in life is that records like this tend to work their way around because there is a wide geographical distribution of persons who have a legitimate interest in the subject.

Obviously you would have more success with a professional investigator.

FWIW, under Historical Records, ancestry.com lists no matches for Barack Obama or Barack Dunham in any Canadian provinces in 1961.

Likewise, the only Historical Record for Stanley Dunham in Hawaii during period 1942-1995 is her SSN Death record. There is no listing of any marriages, but my impression is that ancestry.com maintains no databases that would contain this info, so its absence proves little.

I quick-checked a number of the family trees posted that include Stanley Ann Dunham, but none of them contain any marriage date records for either her marriage to Obama or Soetoro.

Thanks for the heads-up, LucyT.

I don't know where anyone got the information that I had posted any information related to research on Barack Obama's birth certificate or anything of that sort. It sounds like someone did a thorough job on this, but it certainly wasn't me!

Cheers.

Thanks for being understanding, Alberta’s Child. Backtracking leads to Albertafriend; it’s an honest mixup in names, which is understandable on a thread that began July 3rd. For a while I was thinking of Amish Friend, but there’s no one on FR by that name.

bvw #4121: Thank you! Now I don't have to look through 4,000 posts!

DrC #4123: I stand corrected (I was searching by city/country, and should have simply searched on Kenya: my bad). Thank you for pointing that out. There are, however, no Kenyan vital records listed in the FH Library catalog.

David: The book in the FH Library is listed in:

ELECTRONIC JOURNAL OF AFRICANA BIBLIOGRAPHY. Vol. 1.
(Guides, Collections and Ancillary Materials to African Archival Resources in the United States)

In the bibliography preface, it states, "...the Government of Kenya has sought records of "migrating archives" outside the country. Finally in 1989, the Kenya National Archives published the results of their search in the Guide to Records Retrieved from U.K. and U.S.A. (see item 264; 298-299 for Malawi, and 753 for Zimbabwe)."

The Kenya list in the "Contents" section refers to microfilm holdings at various university libraries  throughout the country, as well as the Library of Congress, NYC Public Library, the Hoover Institution in Stanford, the Center for Research Libraries in Chicago and some British locations. The description of the microfilm isn't very detailed, so you would probably have to access each library's holdings to find out if there are vital records included. Michigan State apparently has the largest collection.

David: please excuse my earlier error. I did however, indicate in my original post that the FH Library is run by the Mormons, and it's fairly obvious that it's an LDS facility via the search page I linked. Aside from the fact that no Kenyan vital records are listed in their catalog, I'm curious how to you intend to "penetrate it?"

By the way, you don't have to go to Salt Lake City  to access the materials listed in the catalog as "Available." Simply write down the call number of the catalog items you want to research, then find a Family History Center in your area by using the search box on the familysearch.org main page. Go to the local center, submit your request, and wait for the item to be shipped from SLC (the materials can only be used at the local center, and can't be taken home, however).

But, before you do any of the above, why not simply contact the Nairobi Civil Registrar, by mail or phone, per the Google Books link?

Interesting hypothesis, posted by rachel at TexasDarlin. Note the original hypothesis by Old Atlantic.

By jove, I think I’ve got it!!

Old Atlantic said: Very likely the Dunhams paid for Obama Sr to come to Hawaii. If they did an adoption in Hawaii w/o Soetoro’s consent or even real notice, then having the original dad there to say he supported the new adoption would help. You have the birth mother and father there with the grand parents.

Or he could have come to make a claim on BHO Jr.’s paternity to throw the Indonesian adoption into doubt. If Stanley previously claimed that she was “unwed” for BHO Jr. to be granted US citizenship status - then perhaps BHO Sr. could have come in 1971 to established that he indeed was married to Dunham at BHO Jr’s birth. Maybe he proved mom and baby were in Kenya during the birth, making the marriage legal. She’s a liar, so what! What are they going to do about it at this moment in time? This would have screwed BHO JR’s natural born citizenship status but it would have also screwed the Soetoro adoption and thus taken Barry out from under the thumb of Lolo. It would render that adoption invalid.

When the Dunham Sr’s (grandparents) then adopted him, seconds later, it would have been a foreign adoption since neither birth parent was a citizen at THAT time. But when the Sr. Dunhams adopted BHO jr - he would have instantly become a naturalized citizen. Not knowing he would run for president someday, who would have thought it mattered?

Then, when he wanted to get into Harvard, they probably let BHO Sr. adopt him in order to get the freebies. By then, I believe Barry may have qualified for US citizenship in his own right, due to his residency, so his birth parents citizenship would have been irrelevant to his citizenship status. (I’m too lazy and tired of this to go look that up)

As far as we know, BHO Sr. would have been happy to be named as the father on the birth certificate. He was his father! Why not make it right? It was just the legal aspect of the marriage itself that was ever a problem.

The beauty of it would be that he was born Barack Hussein Obama and would have ended up Barack Hussein Obama. The birth certificate information would be identical except for the certificate numbers. And From BHO Jr.’s point of view, he would have always been a US citizen.

there’s still just that pesky problem of the vital stats announcement.

"Getting the freebies" is a reference to yet another theory that Obama took a trip back to Kenya to have his Dad adopt him in order to establish African bonafides so as to get special treatment to get into Harvard, or to get scholarships, grants due to that Kenyanosity.

http://www.hackerfactor.com/blog/index.php?/archives/203-The-Presidential-Race.html

Imaging expert Doctor Krawetz asks for people to harass Polarik, in acompletely passive-aggressive way:

The "polarik" entity appears to have been created specificly for this controversy. His TownHall persona uses the name "Ron Polarik". However, I cannot find that name (or Ronald or "R") in any phonebook. The only "Polarik"s I could find are a Jeffrey Polarik in Wisconsin and Penny Polarik in Michigan. However, I doubt that "Ron" is actually Jeff or Penny. (Please don't harass Jeff or Penny. It's not their fault that Ron chose the same last name.)
Mr. Krawetz holds that Texas Darlin (and possibly Polarik and TechDude) are racists:
[Example One]

TexasDarlin should have never promoted the conspiracy when her "experts" were unverified. And upon learning of the error, she should have recanted the accusation rather than continue to promote a baseless conspiracy.

Then again, who ever said that racists were rational.

[Example Two]

Finally, as I pointed out in this blog entry, the loudest supporter of Polarik and Techdude's work is [TexasDarlin]. And she has aligned herself with a very biased position: a dislike of Obama based on his race.
