Kenya as a Republic may have not existed Officially until Dec. 12, 1964 but the Kenyan's were certianly involved in forming a Republic.

There is some evidence that Kenya was preparing to become a Republic prior to the official event on Dec. 12, 1964.

Then there is this entry in Wikipedia on Jomo Kenyatta under Leadership (5th paragraph down.)

On June 1, 1964, Kenyatta became President when he successfully had Parliament amend the Constitution to make Kenya a republic with his office becoming executive President: the head of State, head of Government, and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces.

I don’t put a lot of faith in Wiki but it was this entry that had me looking elsewhere to confirm. I still have found nothing about the June 1, 1964 event.

Maybe so she can come back in and say Hussein has everything in lock down. If there shouldn't be records in Kenya, there is no reason for Hussein to order the records closed.

Yes, they had a constitution and that constitution was amended so that Kenya became the Republic of Kenya on 12/13/64. If anyone can show official Kenyan documents that are letter-headed Republic of Kenya prior to this date then this is a non-issue. Until then it is a hole in this theory.

Kenya was issuing postal stamps that said ‘Republic of Kenya’ long before December 1964.

I've been all over the net looking at stamps, bank notes, coins, collectibles, souvenirs....at Google, Google Images, ebay, newspaperarchive.org, other archive sites, merchant sites and sites of private collections. All I've gotten is eyestrain. Not a trace of anything to indicate that Kenya used "Republic of Kenya" prior to 12/12/64.

And that's what we need to see.

She went to Mombasa to fly back to the U.S. but was prevented by the airlines from boarding her flight due to her advanced pregnancy and, shortly thereafter, gave birth in Mombasa?

I'm looking for something that would definitively tie her to Mombasa. If it was merely to fly home, Nairobi is the capitol city and a whole lot closer to the ancestral village, so why not Nairobi? It's about 200 miles closer. I don't think travel in Kenya in the early 1960's was very easy or fast.
