Aren't Rush's legal problems from STATE prosecutors? Or, are you saying Rush is indirectly trying to gain favor of Jeb Bush somehow?
To: Thetaxman
It just seems a little strange to me that the bastion of free enterprise doesn't have any companies who can come up with a way to make a buck operating our ports. Am I to think that Arabs are better capitalist than we are? And if an Arab company would be willing to do this at a loss, might that not be a little suspicious?

Don't you mean A British company RUNS our ports, but we OWN them? (I hope).

Can you answer the first question I asked you now: Are you serious?

You know, I was really REALLY angry with the President today. REady to JUMP SHIP!!! But Larry Elders, ( of ALL PEOPLE, I usually don't listen to him), said take a deep breath and don't come down on this issue until we looked at the facts. After listening to him for a hour, I began to see his point. I am going to reserve my opinions on this issue until I know more.

Is operating our own ports beneath American companies these days?Arabs are only doing the jobs that Americans are unwilling to take.

It's Global War against Mohammedan Takeover sentiment - the terrorists coalesce around their 'sacred' 'holy' book and liken themselves to their murderer-icon the 'prophet' Mo hammed.
The terrorists breed, grow and operate in the UAE, among other places.
Glad to see you bringing the Al-Jazeera Network to FR, though. /sarc

I've got it.
Dubai was our friend, before it was against us.
Or something like that.
To: Tulsa Ramjet
You miss the point......
I agree with Bush on this one.....
Step up and EXPLAIN why a Company from a friendly Arab nation should be held to different standards than a British, or Dutch, or Chines, Or Malay, Or Greek, Or Norwegian, Or Kuwaiti, Or Saudi, Or Brazillian or any other nation operating our ports today......
And what of the port operations that WE run overseas? Should we now give those up, as well??
To: texasbluebell
that P&O quickly extended their contracts at the ports of Beaumont and Corpus Christi, contracts moving military equipment, and now we will have the Dubai company moving our military equipment. And the hits just keep on coming.

Bush had best be revealing why he is outsourcing port security . . . This may qualify as the single most ignorant statement on any of the threads related to this story.

Lets hear you explain this away..
____Simple, the UAE is not our enemy. We are not at war with all Arabs or all Islam, and Bush is always careful to make that case.

Hell, if I were Singapore I'd wait till the price came down to "free" now. Why pay top dollar when your only two competitors are persona non grata? It's no different than owning a popular night club and not being able to get top dollar for it since many of the potential buyers aren't able to secure liquor licenses. That is just the way the business world works.

But YOU said we were at war with the UAE, now you say we are at war with no one!

Excellent. Then let's let Hamas run the port since the port management firm can't hurt us.
