ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (AP) — President Bush says the deal allowing an Arab company to take over six major U.S. seaports should go forward and he will veto any bill that would stop it.
''The overall threat to the United States and security, I don't think it exists,'' Carter said on CNN's The Situation Room. ``I'm sure the president's done a good job with his subordinates to make sure this is not a threat.''

Dubai allows for women to dress as they wish and allows for Christians to worship as they please. They have BARS and NIGHTCLUBS that serve alcohol! You can buy the finest wine and food there.

There must be some special expertise about this job that no American company is able, or wants, to do. I am not sure, but I think this same company already does some work at other US ports....
it is illustrative as a debating point - for the freepers who support this port operations takeover, its a fair question to ask them if they would support the same acquisition of american nuclear power plant operations.

Your premise is faulty. There is NO such thing as a friendly Arab country. They all want to screw us in some way. Either money, bombs or some other evil way. The Arab world is not to be trusted. Anybody who embraces the insanity of Islam is automatically suspect.

That is a question better directed at the board of P & O. We'll soon be finding out just how important their port contracts in the US actually are, if the DPWorld acquisition goes through, because it has been made quite plain that several states plan to void their contracts.

Please point out which specific nations that we have declared war since 9/11. We are at war against Al Queda not Afganistan and against the former Iraqi leadership and not Iraq.
You ought to check your facts before posting nonsense like that. Security at U.S. ports is the responsibility of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, not the companies that operate the terminals.
Personally that it really the only worrisome thing for me on this deal. Carter is a perfect negative barometer. If he is for it, that's cause for concern
