EuroNews reports that a collection of Iron Age objects was unearthed during an archaeological investigation conducted ahead of a construction project in the East of England. A nearly complete Celtic battle trumpet, or carnyx, and parts of a second one were found in the hoard, in addition to a bronze boar head from a military standard and five shield bosses. "The carnyces and the boar-headed standard are styles well known on the continent and remind us that communities in Britain were well connected to a wider European world at the time," said Fraser Hunter of National Museums Scotland. To read about the mouthpiece of a Roman horn discovered at the site of Vindolanda in northern England, go to "Hadrian's Bugler."

I have one of them - made it out of a cow’s horn.
I always have an argument with my son. I say it’s pronounced Keltic. Any historians here?
It’s a K sound, unless it’s the basketball team. ππ
Celtic languages are (or used to be) in two smaller families — the P-Celts (Brythonic — Welsh, Cornish, possibly Pictish, Gallic/Galatian, Celtiberian) and the Q-Celts (Irish, Scottish, Manx), based on relative uses of P/B vs Q/K. Ap/Ab or Map/Mab has the same use as Mac, for example.
I’m a big fan of bagpipes and harpischords, two of the least favorite instruments in the world I’m sure, a category that probably includes the accordion. I also enjoy five string banjo from time to time, but here’s a banjo joke that I’ve heard adapted for accordion:
What’s the difference between onions and a banjo?
Nobody cries when you chop up a banjo.

Why do bagpipers walk when they play?
To get away from the noise
I play both. Yes itβs an acquired appreciation. Even my professors compared the harpsichord to the sound of two skeletons copulating on a tin roof.
Thanks.
You mean The BoogieWoogie Bugle Boy of leigon number 10?
