Cracker Barrel (“CB”) recently announced with great pride (pun intended) that they have become woke and are implementing customer-facing DEI throughout their restaurant chain, a project that has been in the works for about a year. Proving once more that idealistic leftists are oblivious to anything remotely involving sanity.
The Left never seems to learn. Their DEI agenda is so important that they willingly crater their own businesses. Even Left-leaning news channels and their famous anchors have learned that they are not immune to this effect. I have doubts about the success of this new direction, for a couple of reasons.
1) Woke people who pretend to live healthy lives don't eat there anyway -- you know, because of the biscuits, gravy, fried chicken, calories, fat, etc., where just one glass of sweet tea likely has more calories than they consume in a day. Somehow CB thinks taking the "country" out of Cracker Barrel, removing the old white dude and his barrel from the logo, and making the decor look like a latte cafe will entice them in. (I have a bridge to sell you).
2) Their loyal fans, including me, have no interest in overall DEI wokeness when it is an in-your-face action. Hire whoever you wish, as I don’t care about the proclivities of my server or the cook, so no problem there. But I do care about the thinking of leaders who believe this is a good direction to pursue as a business. I admit I limit my meals there to no more than one per quarter just because I get three days’ worth of calories in one very delicious meal.
CB will lose a big part of their base while not recouping that volume with new customers from the woke mob.

And they are going to add duck to the menu, flown in fresh from Newfoundland. Very succulent!
He works hard for the money!
No, he takes the morning train 🎶🎶🎶
That could result in a saltine batter, ree. See, I went a different way. /crickets
See the top photo in post #52.
So, if the food sucks, and now the ambiance is gone, what is the value proposition in going to Cracker Barrel?
ROTFLOL 🤣🤣🤣

LOVED the gift shop - it was cool
My pastor and I are there about 4 months ago
I enjoyed looking at the merchandise
Restaurant still had the old decor
NO GAY PRIDE PARADE rockers out
front either - Thank God
The way to fix this is simple: re-do their logo again, but add a bunch of folksy, Norman Rockwell type art to surround it. Go heavy on the country Americana.
And purge everyone associated with the first logo change.
I eat there occasionally for the nostalgia factor. Take that away and there is no reason to go.
I think I will go to the one here today after work before they screw it up. May be my last chance.
Exactly, they are driving off the people that like it to chase after “new” customers who will never come.

The Dixie Chick Effect
Another female CEO killing a company, how many times have we seen this before?
Anyone remember Carli Fiorina?
The new look is so bland and sterile, I would rather look at blank walls that that new look.
People like you are not going to keep them in business. We hate it cause the new look sucks to us. It is boring and sterile.
You are free to like what you want and I am not attacking you for it, but I guarantee, if this goes through, the company will be dead in less than 5 years.
Add Carli Fiorani to that list.
An absolutely BIG yes on Carly Fiorina!
