I don't recommend the Bosch 500 series. It's dumb.
Sadly, it seems all appliance manufacturers are going this route. Where will we be in 5-10 years next time I need to buy a new dishwasher? Probably even worse off.

Yeah, we refuse all this newfangled technology. We still have AT&T rotary phones. It was a leap of faith giving up our Campbell soup cans and string.
I do not buy high priced appliances. I go to place not far from me and I buy whatever is on sale or was returned for whatever reason. Bought a new Dryer in December for about $450, it was the cheapest they had and had been returned so I got a nice discount. Works fine, just basic appliance and no Cloud or computer hookup.
There really isn’t a reason to buy an expensive washer, dryer or dishwasher, they have all become disposable to a degree. But some brands still last a good while.
No way I am going to spend thousands of dollars on stuff like that.
If I spent money on a Bosch or other expensive brand I would put them in my living room to show off to guests, I would be that proud of them.
Me too. I had a fridge that was broken and had to repair people out and they wanted almost $600 to fix something I only spent a $1,000 on. I did the same, went to YouTube found some videos, figured out what was wrong and bout the parts needed for about $30 and fixed it myself. DIY videos have saved me a lot of money in the last 10 to 15 years.
Mine takes 3.5 hrs and it has a digital count down timer to keep you updated on how long you have to go .
It uses an amazingly small amount of water, does a great job and is so quiet you can’t hear it run
No WiFi thankfully but progress is actually a good thing in this case
Sad, too, because 30 years or so ago I wouldn’t buy anything BUT a Whirlpool.
In an emergency I bought a Samsung Refrigerator that has a WiFi option. Of course I’m old school but WTH do I need it for? Does anyone have WiFi fridge and actually use that feature and for what?
“Why? One minor repair in 25 years? He is not going to get rich off me.”
You said it was 25 years old. He is not looking at the past, he is looking to the future.
If I were in Cali, laundry would be the least of my worries. Cali will want to limit flushes. I’d be inclined to go cack to an outhouse, but I’m sure that will be illegal too.
Of couse. In a pinch, one will still be able to go downtown and take a dump on the sidewalk.
Can I make an appointment?
1. Bought something recommended by Consumer Reports - first mistake.
2. Didn’t buy a commercial dishwasher instead of a consumer one. They do make them in sizes that fit in most houses’ dishwasher slots and hook up just the same - only they are much higher quality, much better duty cycles and *not* internet connected.
Same thing applies to washer/driers. The only names to buy there are the Speed Queen offerings and rebrands of same.
TSPP is NOT TSP.
Do your research
They still make washboards. Jim Danndy knows.
The average is around 5-7 years. That is the average. They are made to last till the warranty ends, usually in a year, then every day after that is a bonus...
I was fined $250 for doing so, but it was the best $250 I ever spent.
FOMO (Fear of missing out) Recognize it and never fall for it.
Home Depot carries it.
That's real encouraging, ain't it?
I've lived in my apartment for about 24 years. I've had to have my stove and dishwasher replaced. The owner of the complex doesn't buy the new stuff to replace the old. They try to find the scratch and dent stuff, so I doubt they'll ever go for any of the new digital crap, which is fine with me. While the replacement dishwasher is very quiet, which I appreciate, it doesn't hold as much as the old one did.
Damn, I wish I could have seen that.
My dishwasher now takes almost 3 hours to do a load, and it plays some weird robot song when it’s finished.

2 hours and 43 minutes for mine. But at least the dishes are clean.
My old dishwasher was a Home Depot cheapo. There was a power surge and the control panel got the zot. It would have cost almost as much to repair it as it would be to buy a new one.
You either buy extended warranties on appliances or plan on replacing them in 5 years. Either way - it’s gonna cost you.
Similar situation here and was given exactly the same advice.
I have a compact bar fridge I bought in college. Been running continuously for 45 years without missing a beat.
I have a 30+ year old refrigerator that has only required minor repairs.
And, a 30 year old washer & dryer set still doing their jobs.
(All without any help from the internet!)
Service tech advised me to NOT but any new appliances if I can avoid it. Said they’re all junk by comparison.
