"Before he left he told me to keep them as long as possible because the new ones are designed to fail in just a couple of years."

That's real encouraging, ain't it?

I've lived in my apartment for about 24 years. I've had to have my stove and dishwasher replaced. The owner of the complex doesn't buy the new stuff to replace the old. They try to find the scratch and dent stuff, so I doubt they'll ever go for any of the new digital crap, which is fine with me. While the replacement dishwasher is very quiet, which I appreciate, it doesn't hold as much as the old one did.

Ditto. 26 years here. Every time onw breaks they give me a smaller one. The dishwasher is ok but I don’t like the racks.

Stove got less features than the first one.

Fridge ice maker broke. Got a fridge and it also broke. Bought some ice trays and then a counter top ice maker. Freezer was smaller so we bought a 3.5 cubic foot freezer. Big enough for us and we now buy in more bulk.
