I won't connect my dishwasher to your stupid cloud

I don't recommend the Bosch 500 series. It's dumb.

Sadly, it seems all appliance manufacturers are going this route. Where will we be in 5-10 years next time I need to buy a new dishwasher? Probably even worse off.

For about the last two or three years, we have been washing the dishes by hand and letting them dry overnight in the old dishwasher. Probably doesn’t use significantly more time or water, and we know they’re clean.

I bought a Maytag set in 1985 at a scratch and dent sale. $400 for the set. They lasted until 2014. Replacement units only lasted 10 years and they were the dumbest washer/dryer combo I could find.

I just bought a 75” HiSense UltraHD and it has 2 options. Google TV or HDMI Inputs. Luckily I stream everything I watch. I got rid of cable 15 years ago. but the TV itself has tried a few times to take over by prompting me to check my internet connection...

I will not allow tech to tell me what choices I have...

You should apply for renewable energy tax credits.

You are also fully compostable, therefore recyclable. Nothing in the stores beats that.

“Before he left he told me to keep they as long as posible because the new ones are designed to fail in just a couple of years.”

Did you see him counting his money as he left?

My dishwasher now takes almost 3 hours to do a load, and it plays some weird robot song when it’s finished.

I wonder if you will be required to buy a subscription or purchase their updates to keep the appliance running like John Deere does now.

I always use my time hand washing dishes to look out the window and pray. Makes the chore joyful! 💕

Does it have an ‘express wash’ function?

Don’t know. It has too many buttons and settings.
Waste of money and overly complicated. It’s a Samsung. I should have hunted for an old one.

All that, plus info on usage patterns which the manufacturers will use for design and marketing purposes.

Plus the enviros will eventually want to control your power and water usage and hours of operation. Califirnia will probably require every lighting fixture, faucet, and appliance from an electric toothbrush on up to be grid connected. And it will tax usage.

Your pacemaker and insulin pump want to check in with your refrigerator and dishwasher to make sure you have a good and current social credit score.

I have a chest freezer 31 yo. Going strong

My folks had an upright freezer that was made in the mid to late 1950s. They bought it used when they were married in the mid-1960s. It was still going strong in 2011 when they finally decided to get rid of it. It was heavy and they need something to fit in a basement, so decided to buy new. 50+ years old.

Post of the day material there. Well found observations.

If you want clean clothes buy TSPP and add it to your wash. Ditto for your dishwasher. Added benefit is that the dishwasher will last longer.

I bought a chest freezer from a neighbor who was moving away.
Brand is Kelvinator. I have had it 25 years and I think she bought it sometime in the 1970’s.

“We went back to an older Maytag after our new washer broke.”

The washer in the house we bought had a brand new (less than one year) “eco” top loading washer. It wouldn’t cover the clothes with water, and it was PLANNED that way. It had no agitator. It had no “oomph”! Of COURSE the clothes didn’t get clean.

I found a hack online that worked, which involved hauling pans and pitchers of water to the washer to cover the clothes. They still didn’t get clean. (An agitator would’ve been nice.) We schlepped water for about a week, gave the washer away and installed our old on.

I’m so glad Trump’s EOs are supposed to mitigate a lot of this crap.
