Boeing employees are “humiliated” after NASA announced that two astronauts who have been stranded on the International Space Station by the company’s troubled Starliner space capsule will have to be rescued by Elon Musk’s upstart rival SpaceX, one worker told The Post.
Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams — who went up the ISS in June for what was supposed to be an 8-day mission — will have to wait another six months until a SpaceX Crew Dragon space craft can carry them safely home because their original ride is leaking helium and has problems with its thrusters.
The Florida-based staffer with Boeing’s space program said the decision was the latest blow for the aerospace giant, which is already suffering backlash from a slew of commercial flight incidents earlier this year.
“We have had so many embarrassments lately, we’re under a microscope. This just made it, like, 100 times worse,” one worker, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said.
“We hate SpaceX,” he added. “We talk s–t about them all the time, and now they’re bailing us out.”
“It’s shameful. I’m embarrassed, I’m horrified,” the employee said.
With morale “in the toilet,” the worker claimed that many in Boeing are blaming NASA for the humiliation.
Boeing maintains its Starliner craft could safely get the astronauts back to Earth after putting them on the ISS during its maiden crewed flight on June 5.

As an aside, I just made the dire error of clicking on your “About” page. Ouch! My eyes! My brain! You should post a warning to any who foolishly may venture therein.
I used to work with several former Boing employees.
They all had horror stories of mismanagement over there.
And yes, for some reason, every time heads rolled, it got worse.
I do not know, but my theory is that Boing is becoming more and more like a government enterprise.
Kind of like the companies in Soviet Union, run by faceless bureaucrats.
Maybe there is no cure for them any more?!
I can understand how these Boeing employees feel, especially if they are rank and file engineers who know what the problems are and how to fix them but are being denied by Company and NASA incompetent management.
No one wants to work for a company that is a laughingstock.
I would wait until after they attempt to bring Starliner back before complaining and blaming NASA. If it makes it back safely, Boeing people can make the claim that it would have been fine with the astronauts on board. If it doesn’t, we’ll then the Boeing people should be thanking NASA for not letting them try with people on board.
Spacex is the real deal…. No longer ‘upstart’
Boing is old decrepit and crony.
Humiliated? Participation trophies don’t work here when folks lives are at stake, when you can’t complete your job because your equipment fails miserably do to incompetence.
That entire dept should be shitcanned.
Does anyone have that Boeing video where nothing but women - all shapes (mostly orbs) and colors - is dancing at what looks like a conference where the vendors have informational booths set up?
‘are’, not ‘is’
Elon while Make it pay per view. I’d cough up the cash to watch Boeing be humiliated on live stream TV. Then when that star liner crap is cut loose from the ISS and tumbles into the atmosphere and burns up Boeing stock should burn up as well.
SpaceX. How American business functions unshackled by DEI and PC.
They launched despite knowing about the leak.
Whoever made that call and/or who forced them to make it should be fired.
Well Boeing, be a better company. Work harder. Don’t accept mediocrity. Insist that you do everything right and insist on the highest quality of work and employee.
My son is an aerospace engineer who says that the likelihood of the Starliner burning up on reentry is about 1% but that is too high to take a risk with humans.
Boeing is an example of what DEI policies can do to a once great Company.
Today’s Boeing Space Division is nothing like the Apollo Era Boeing.
Drop all the "diversity" bullcrap and concentrate on hiring the best people to build the best airplanes, spacecraft, whatever.
Fire the people who curse SpaceX and hire people who like a challenge.
It seems like humiliation should be a normal response in this situation.
It is indeed “shameful”.
And there was the day when Boeing was a top notch outfit everyone respected.
They need to be humiliated.
Shameful?..........Yeah, it’s shameful that you didn’t do your damn jobs! Then you wouldn’t be in this predicament!.......................
