Boeing employees are “humiliated” after NASA announced that two astronauts who have been stranded on the International Space Station by the company’s troubled Starliner space capsule will have to be rescued by Elon Musk’s upstart rival SpaceX, one worker told The Post.
Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams — who went up the ISS in June for what was supposed to be an 8-day mission — will have to wait another six months until a SpaceX Crew Dragon space craft can carry them safely home because their original ride is leaking helium and has problems with its thrusters.
The Florida-based staffer with Boeing’s space program said the decision was the latest blow for the aerospace giant, which is already suffering backlash from a slew of commercial flight incidents earlier this year.
“We have had so many embarrassments lately, we’re under a microscope. This just made it, like, 100 times worse,” one worker, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said.
“We hate SpaceX,” he added. “We talk s–t about them all the time, and now they’re bailing us out.”
“It’s shameful. I’m embarrassed, I’m horrified,” the employee said.
With morale “in the toilet,” the worker claimed that many in Boeing are blaming NASA for the humiliation.
Boeing maintains its Starliner craft could safely get the astronauts back to Earth after putting them on the ISS during its maiden crewed flight on June 5.

Pyramid of mismanagement, 20 layers deep, cashing in.
They will need lots of safe spaces to cry about. Hopefully, their safe spaces weren’t built by BA.
What DEI, ESG, CRT, etc. have done to a leader in aerospace.
If we only had 60s technology and those black ladies doing all the math, we’d have rescued those astronauts and Perhaps even gone to the moon (again)
The difference being, those black ladies in the 1960s were NOT DEI hires.
They were the best of the best.
They would be really pissed to see what is going on now.
The “Managerial” class is being mismanaged and you can see it from space.
+1
They were the best of the best.
I think you are wrong. They were the products of a segregated education system and got the least of everything.
BUT, (1) They all had significant raw talent, and (2) They grew up in an age where everybody learned Reading, 'Riting, and 'Rithmetic as a matter of course in school.
This was before the "new math" idiocy and back when knowing the times tables was much more important than knowing how to put a condom on a banana.
I would be willing to bet that the VAST MAJORITY of the Boeing “managerial staff” are not made up of seasoned/experienced ENGINEERS.
Most likely a bunch of box checking, ladder climbing Ivy League MBAs, DEI and other assorted diversity hire BS.
YES, Boeing YOU SUCK because your management has willingly abdicated all responsibility and accountability for engineering success to STUPID DEI BS!!!!
Boeing used to be the bench mark ,now they are the skid mark.
Had you been competent you might have polished your skills instead and tried to get a job with Musk.
Good. They should be humiliated. They’re so far behind SpaceX I doubt Elon and crew give them a second thought. Boeing is late, over budget and what they delivered is an unsafe bucket of bolts. Heads need to roll at Boeing.
They’re JUST NOW feeling humiliated?
All I know is that Boeing retirees are carefully watching their pension figures. This could be really, really bad.
And good for SpaceX and Elon, who is more interested in being successful and efficient than woke.
“Heads need to roll at Boeing.”
What’s sad is that for the last 15-20 years, heads have rolled at Boeing and with every new head, things got worse.
Ditto for GE. When I worked there under Jack Welch it was an awesome place to work. Then he left. Not so awesome any more.
👍😊
They got a taste of power, however unsanitary, and they still like it.
SpaceX is not an “upstart rival” to Boeing. The competition, if there ever was one, ended years ago, Boeing lost. SpaceX is now the preeminent space travel company in the world. No one else is close. Boeing has become a farce.
Perhaps instead of hating Space X they could spend their time and efforts in creating excellence and they wouldn’t need to be embarrassed and humilated.
Hate to say it Boeing, but you folks have gotten pretty sloppy.
