Im not enjoying the free republic lime I used to. Too many newbies that are trolls, looking for someone to drag into their abyss of self hatred. Theres been a lot of posts linked to posters with no bios, I think admin needs to limit the number of posts or remove those without any bio info.
I’m glad you do, though. It reminds me of how much we have in common. Career Navy dads (mine did 28 years), both buried at ANC, big families (I’m the firstborn of five) and if I remember correctly, you also went to high school in Fairfax County?
Our dads could very well have known each other.
I can see the sun!!
Nunyabidness.
Probably the best way to deal with “trolls” is to ignore them. By the way, i see no biolography on YOUR name. O have beem here for years myself.
Typically the blood bank asks if one knows one’s blood type-—Type O is one of the four possible answers.
Adding a “t” onto Rabbi is a typo.
They are homophones.
I think admin needs to limit the number of posts or remove anyone who joined after the 2000 Presidential Elections.
Because frankly, y'all are a bunch of dumbasses posting nonsense like this.
I agree, FRiend...funny. I occasionally have to drive somewhere, and there is a billboard for “Allegra”, and every time I pass it, I think of you!
I lived in Fairfax before my family went overseas, and we came back and lived in Prince Georges County near Andrews AFB on a small Naval Communication Station in Cheltenham.
Life takes you on circuitous paths...I always like to tell the story my mother related, so we lived in Yokosuka, Japan, and my mother was with a friend walking around off base, and she saw a sailor walking towards her...it was some guy she went to school with.
There, on the other side of the world...the circuitous paths just crossed! So, yes...I like to think it is possible that our parents knew each other!
Some of us said that when you joined...
OK, now *that* was funny.
Sometime around 2002-2003ish (maybe earlier), there was a thread where someone was talking about their beeper, but they misspelled it and said beeber (later sometimes alternated to beiber). In the responses, someone said they were stunned, but intentionally misspelled it as "stuned." From there it took a life of its own, and beebers/beibers were stuned on a regular basis.
The shower thing came from someone saying they were going to go take a shower, and to ping them if anything exciting happened. IIRC that was back in the Monica Lewinsky era, but yeesh, that's almost 30 years ago and my memory ain't what it used to be.
Yeah, I was trying to remember some of the other really old school folks.. DITHF, humblegunner, Martin Fiero, Eaker, quidam, eschoir.... At the time DITHF was the only one I could think of LOL....
That is an awesome story! Sometimes it just takes one brave person to encourage others to follow and question the status quo. Given the uproarious crowd welcoming Trump to the formerly blue Bronx, surely some people even in your town are very uncomfortable about the Replacement-Theory-that-Must-Not-Be-Named.
Yeah, I heard the stories handed down from my great grand parents when they were crossing the Oregon Trail in covered wagons posting on FR. Of course the internet was really really slow. They were still on dial-up back then. AOL (American Oregon Landline) was their ISP and it sucked. They kept getting these AOL discs for their computer via Pony Express. They'd sit around the camp fire at night and talk about what was on Free Republic and who posted what. here's a photo from back then.
I said “Doctor is dere nuttin I can take/I said “Doctor is dere nuttin I can take to relieve da bellyachin’
He say “Put da lime in da coconut, you drink ‘em bot together...’’
You sound a like like me when I was younger. I wanted to join a self-help group for people who procrastinate but I kept putting it off.
thanks, some don’t think so. They call me a troll and a newbie. Doesn’t bother me, I wear that like a badge.
LOL
I like your style. For a newbie, you seem more like a freeper than many longtime freepers.
I got your back, bro.
thanks!
