A city in Wyoming has been overrun with an unprecedented homeless population that’s destroyed a vacant motel and has left hundreds of pounds of feces across the area, according to its mayor. Mayor Bruce Knell detailed the destructive behavior of roughly 200 homeless people in Casper, WY who have been creating a “mess” throughout the streets and parks, as well as a closed motel where squatters left millions in property damage. “They destroyed everything,” he told Cowboy State Daily. “It’s horrible.” Homeless people who squatted at the Econo Lodge motel caused more damage than the flooding that initially closed the...

Squatters have taken over a Wyoming city after some left millions of dollars worth of damage to a motel and others left 500lbs of feces in the downtown area. Casper, the second-largest city in the state, is home to 60,000 residents but now also has about 200 homeless people. Some have seized various properties that are empty or abandoned, including an abandoned Econo Lodge motel that hasn't operated since November. Casper Mayor Bruce Knell described the extent of destruction as akin to 'third-world-country stuff'. 'It's like nothing I've ever seen. It's third-world-country stuff happening in Casper, Wyoming,' he told Cowboy...

If you walk past the Wyoming Republican Party’s tent these days, beware. You may have to dodge members being thrown out of the three-ring circus. On Saturday, the party’s overachieving central committee censured Sen. Cale Case of Lander, denied support to Republicans running as independents in November and condemned the actions of a legislative committee and 10 GOP lawmakers. The state party told Case, a Republican lawmaker for the past 30 years, to join a different party or run as an independent. Karl Allred of Uinta County bluntly delivered a similar message to Republicans who plan to challenge GOP primary...

Former President Donald Trump rallied supporters in Casper, Wyoming, on Saturday, urging them to vote against Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) in the Republican primary. “Worse than the terrible Democrats are the backstabbing RINO republicans that are helping them do their act,” Trump said. “And there is no RINO in America who has thrown in her lot with the radical left more than Liz Cheney.” During the rally, Trump described Cheney as a “lapdog for Pelosi and a human soundbite machine for CNN and MSDNC.” “She has gone crazy,” Trump continued. “Now I get it. I’ve been hearing these stories for...

CASPER — Casper welcomed Bill Bailey and his self-proclaimed “largest mobile Trump store in the nation” last Thursday. Since Bailey fought off the Casper wind and set up his four tents, he’s seen thousands of customers, with roughly 400 on the first day, he said. As Bailey, decked head-to-toe in red, white and blue Trump gear, spoke to a reporter, he was interrupted by a confused customer. “I want the one that says ‘**** Biden,’” the customer said. Baily returned to the interview after ensuring the customer got what he wanted. “The * Biden always sells,” he said. Bailey is...

President Donald Trump announced Monday his plan for a political rally in Casper, Wyoming. The president is expected to rally with Harriet Hageman, a Republican primary challenger to Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY). The rally is scheduled for Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 4:00 PM MDT on Memorial Day weekend. Hageman was chosen by Trump in September 2021 to challenge Cheney despite a crowded field of interested candidates. “Unlike RINO Liz Cheney, Harriet is all in for America First. Harriet has my Complete and Total Endorsement in replacing the Democrats’ number one provider of sound bites, Liz Cheney,” Trump wrote at...

A federal judge in Boston is allowing a lawsuit against the Trump administration’s ending of temporary protections for immigrants to proceed on the grounds the decisions were motivated by racial prejudice. U.S. District Judge Denise Casper rejected Monday the government’s bid to dismiss the lawsuit, which a group of immigrants and civil rights organizations filed in February in response to the cancellation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti and El Salvador. Statements by administration officials — including President Donald Trump — make it plausible that “a discriminatory purpose was a motivating factor in a decision” to wind down TPS...

I apologize. I tried and failed. God bless.†Casper residents voted Nov. 3 to reinstate a 2012 smoking ban on bars. More than 6,000 voters cast ballots, with 54 percent voting in favor of the ban. Ban supporters, such...

Everyone will have to hang their guns at the door before entering the Casper City Council chambers under a new ordinance passed last week. In a five-to-four vote, the council approved a controversial measure that prohibits bringing a firearm or other deadly weapon into any public city government meeting. The law drew the ire of a number of gun rights and constitutional groups, and is expected to be challenged in the state legislature and also the courts. “We’ll bring a suit forth,” said Anthony Bouchard, executive director of Wyoming Gun Owners, following the meeting. “But we’re going to look at...

An armed officer dressed in a suit and tie stood behind Casper City Council on Tuesday as members patiently listened to seven arguments for or against banning openly carried weapons in city meetings. In the end, votes remained the same as those cast at the previous council meeting. Weapons are no longer allowed in city government meetings. “I expect this issue is not going to go away,” Mayor Paul Bertoglio said. He and council members Keith Goodenough, Bill Brauer and Maury Daubin opposed the ordinance that would restrict weapons in city government meetings. Council members Kate Sarosy, Paul Meyer, Kenyne...

During the most recent legislative session, state Senator Kit Jennings (R-28) of Casper sponsored permitless carry legislation to expand the Right-to-Carry across Wyoming, only to see his hometown now fight to restrict it. Last week, the Casper City Council voted 5 to 4 in favor of an ordinance to ban the open carrying of firearms during city council meetings. While nothing has ever occurred to necessitate this proposed ordinance, the city council is one step away from making this ban a reality and will decide its fate on third and final reading at their next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, December...
