My cousin is a farmer in western TN. Very conservative but surrounded by blue farmers.
No, that’s the tax on withdrawing the money. The money in stock is tax sheltered....until I take it out. That’s when I have to pay the full taxes on it. I’m in a lower tax bracket than 20%. If I don’t remove enough to put me in a higher tax bracket, I overpay income tax on it, so I get part, or most, of it back. The only time I didn’t get it all back was when I withdrew $30,000 to buy my car. I got most of it back though at income tax time.
Our SS doesn’t add up to enough to put us in a higher tax bracket. If we have too much income, we pay tax on the SS.
I’m in East TN in Athens, as in The Battle of Athens. The Western side is blue (think Memphis). The east side is red as can be. I’m between Knoxville and Chattanooga.

I did miss it as I was in the midst of my own competition against a very good field of bridge players on Sunday, some of whom were also professionals. I saw the replay on youtube though and it was spectacular! In our District Championship at Oak Hill a few years ago, I bogied that hole from the left bunker on a 42° day in October. I had trouble staying warm and I couldn’t feel my hands at some point - thoroughly unpleasant except for the beauty of Oak Hill. The next day, it was 60° and I doubled the same hole by putting the first shot into the pond on the right. (*sigh*) That’s what I get for protecting against going into the bunker again with my natural draw. The course has undergone a renovation since then and I’m not sure how the hole has changed.
It was still a thrill to see a hole in one on a course I’ve actually played, and a magical day for that club pro. I didn’t see my first hole in one either as it was into the sun and I couldn’t tell if it went over the back or into the hole. It just disappeared. I did what Michael Block did - looked into the hole not really expecting it to be there. He had the crowd to help him understand his achievement before he got that far. I was playing with three women who were squealing about a squirrel who stole the remainder of a hot dog and not paying any attention to my tee shot.
People who play bridge are extremely bright.
Extremely bright people are usually very educated.
Educated people trust science.

Just had New York County Supreme Court hearing where I believe my First Amendment Rights,“Freedom of Speech,” have been violated, and they forced upon us a trial date of March 25th, right in the middle of Primary season. Very unfair, but this is exactly what the Radical Left Democrats wanted. It’s called ELECTION INTERFERENCE, and nothing like this has ever happened in our Country before!!!
