The Cornish Kern beat over 3,000 cheeses from 35 different countries at the annual World Cheese Awards

cheese made by a small Cornish dairy has beaten all-comers to be named the best in the world.

The British nearly killed their cheese industry off after WWII when they kept their war time regs on the books.

They finally killed them off in the 1990s and some of the almost extinct local cheeses are being reborn.

Wow, hard to believe a cheese that tastes like gouda could knock out all other competitors for top spot.

Hard to beat Parmagiano Reggiano, my favorite. The apprenticeship is 12 years long.

A good aged Dutch Gouda is excellent. It is nothing like the processed cheese that comes in those small wax balls, tastes like diluted velveeta and goes under the name of "mini-gouda" or "Babybel" or some such.
