Men have better sense of direction than women, study suggests
Science Daily ^ | December 7, 2015

Using fMRI, the researchers saw that men in the study took several shortcuts, oriented themselves more using cardinal directions and used a different part of the brain than the women in the study.

But when women got a drop of testosterone under their tongue, several of them were able to orient themselves better in the four cardinal directions.

I could have told them that for half the price of their “study”.

” I have a GPS that tells me step by step what to do.”

I was going into the hospital to have a camera shoved into me. I wasn’t allowed to drive because of the anesthesia. A friend drove me. He had GPS. We were driving, following the GPS directions, and I said, “Bobby! This thing is sending us to the West Side. The hospital is in the East Side suburbs. I got him to turn around, although he wanted to follow the GPS directions. We made it to the East Sise hospital with a couple minutes to spare. I don’t completely trust GPS!

Women are also more brutal in love and revenge than men, and inside every real man is a child that just wants to play. (Stolen from Nietzsche) :)

As a woman, I do not disagree with this finding. But because of this, women are far more likely to get where we want to go in much speedier, less gasoline intensive, fashion, because we can admit right away that we are lost and are not afraid to ask for directions.

And yet take a woman shopping and its a dozen stops and an afternoon affair to buy one thing.

For a man it's go to the store where item is at.
Get item.
Pay for item.
Leave.

I’ve had my GPS try to drive me in the exact opposite farking direction of where I was going, just so I could take a U-Turn and go all the way back.

Yeah, but that sounds a lot like blaming the female. I think men just don’t like to listen to women. It is not about them. They don’t care about the pretty flowers or when color of shirt to buy or whatever else uninteresting subject a woman wants to talk about. It is not just that they have “learned” to not listen because the woman does not take their advice. it’s that the men can be too selfish to step outside themselves and get involved in the woman’s interests for a little while. They turn their attentions to the woman when they want physical contact. For emotional interaction they turn to the guys, talking endlessly and emotionally about those five feet of the latest football play advance, or the latest tech gadget, or some car engine, etc. Totally uninteresting stuff.

My MIL is really into her GPS. To the point of using it for every trip. One trip here, the stupid thing told her to go to the next exit away. She got lost for a bit.

I don’t know if it was worse that the GPS blew it or that she blindly followed it rather than her own knowledge of where we live, which should be well known by now.

Not in our family. Wife is left/right challenged, I am n/s/e/w challenged. Our trips at times in the past were unplanned scenic, now no so much thanks to Garmin.

Men are superior at spatial relations (and when I say this audibly with a woman present, I have to emphasize that I said “spatial” and not “special”). Meaning, if you told a man and a woman to borh drive forward 100 feet, a man would get it right more often than a woman will.

The old joke is that the reason woman can’t judge length and distance is because men were always telling them that their smaller penises were actually 7-9 inches.

That’s what the DH does, too. He even does it for me if I am preparing to drive somewhere new.

LOL. Yes I had one lead me to a wheat field when I was trying to get to my niece’s graduation. Usually they are spot on and wonderful.

Oh, bravo!

Kiss-kiss-kiss....

Of course, I DO love lots of men things. But, sometimes I wonder when it is not exactly what the man likes....well....let’s just say some men don’t seem to care that I love cars, because they don’t....

Someone upthread mentioned differences in the male and female being based in our hunter-gatherer past. I’ve always thought this was true about the female love of shopping.

The gathering women were basically shopping, finding new nuts, berries and other resources that could make the group happier and more comfortable; while the men were going out, finding the item, ‘paying’ for it, and going home.

Which describes my lifes motto.

Growing old is mandatory.
Growing up s optional.
